easily elsewhere and/or which have been newly added, but not yet carefully categorized.

  • Research
DOI is perhaps most interesting because it is used extensively as a relatively well understood serotonin agonist and hundreds of papers have been published that involve it in some way.

  • Glaucoma Treatment? #
A U.S. patent application was filed on March 15, 2001 for the use of DOI as a topical treatment to reduce intraocular pressure and specifically as a glaucoma treatment. See U.S. Patent 6,664,286.

"Unexpectedly, it has been found that serotonergic compounds which possess agonist activity at 5HT.sub.2 receptors effectively lower and control elevated IOP and are useful for treating glaucoma... In the present invention it is believed that the Compounds can be dosed topically, at a low enough dose to lower and control IOP, but not cause unwanted CNS side effects which may be associated with some Compounds."
