Details about Providing an Email Address
Erowid allows submitters to provide an email address along with their experience report. This allows us to contact the author when we would like to ask follow-up questions or request clarification.
Erowid attempts to verify extremely unusual reactions, reports of death or serious injury, among other types of reports, but very few people include contact info (an email address) with their submission. If you're writing about a death or hospitalization from direct pharmacological effect of a psychoactive substance, please consider including your email address so we can ask for follow-up details to confirm the report.
The more unusual, idiosyncratic, or negative an experience is, the more a contact email address on file with the report can help allay concerns that the report is fabricated.
We also get requests from readers who ask to contact report authors, and an Erowid editor can forward those (extremely limited, human-reviewed) requests.
Email addresses submitted with reports are never publicly displayed, only senior staff have access to them.
