Some background information on my experience with mind altering substances. I've experienced pretty much every class of drugs at various times in my life. I have 'slowed down' considerably over the years. Currently, I am prescribed Ativan 1.5 mgs, Neurontin 1.6 grams and Wellbutrin 300 mgs. These are to treat life long panic attacks and depression. Counseling has also helped considerably. I take these medications as prescribed. I mention this information because it factors into my dosage and experience with Phenibut.

I received my shipment of Phenibut two weeks ago. It came in a 100 gram jar and cost less than $30. A great bargain to say the least. I dose Phenibut in roughly half gram to a gram portions. The first day I took it I expected to have a high tolerance as a result of being on two GABA agonists (Ativan and Neurontin). So, I ended up starting with a two gram dose. I really didn't feel it at first. I heard it took a long time to kick in. I ended up taking another two grams. Big mistake. The side effects were unpleasant. I felt hungover. Literally, hungover like I had drank too much alcohol the night before. I literally slept for 36 hours. Of course, I was up for short periods. I was absolutely miserable.

Factoring into this misery was the fact that I take a shot of Peginterferon every Friday night for Hepatitis C treatment. I've had Hepatitis C since 1999. Fourteen years. I have virtually no liver damage whatsoever. My viral count has been zero since the first week. I am considered non-contagious and am expected to have no problems later in life from the Hepatitis C. I consider this to be a miracle. Even though I am not necessarily religious. On the other hand, the shot does make me sore and just generally makes me tired. One of the motivations behind purchasing Phenibut was to cope with this soreness and fatigue of Peginterferon.

It's now the Saturday after the shot and I've taken a one gram dose. I feel alright. A very mild euphoria has set in. It's not unlike when I take my 1.5 mg daily dose of Ativan all at once. I don't abuse the Ativan. I have. I've also taken large doses of Neurontin (gabapentin). I've also consumed Kava Kava. I mention these three particular drugs because they all modulate GABA enzymes in the brain. Phenibut is in the same classification of drugs. However, Phenibut mainly works on GABA A Receptors. While the others seem to work on mainly on GABA B. Therefore, I've concluded that Phenibut is a bit different. Not entirely. Still, my mind can differentiate between these chemicals. Truthfully, the mechanisms of Neurontin aren't completely know in the scientific community. I can vouch though that it must influence GABA because of the way it makes me feel.

I also consumed Phenibut on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of last week. I took a dose between one and two grams each day. I had no troubles with withdrawals or rebound insomnia found in some reports. Then again, I really can only vouch for my experience and theorize that the other drugs I take may ward off these unpleasant experiences. I have also experienced some mild gastric upset. Additionally, and I'm embarrassed to admit it, had some diarrhea. I suffer from this already from the Hepatitis C drugs.

In conclusion, I take Phenibut only in moderation. I relapsed twice on Heroin since starting my Hepatitis C. treatment. I've never been physically addicted to Heroin. Although, I was once addicted to Suboxone because I took it daily for two weeks straight. Not more than two 8 mg. doses daily. I mention this because Phenibut helps me to not crave opiates.
Phenibut helps me to not crave opiates.
I crave opiates when I feel discomfort from the Hepatitis C treatment. I am resentful that the Drs. won't give me any pain medication. I've used Hydrocodone many times in the past as prescribed when I had my wisdom teeth removed individually, an ear infection and a lymph node infection. I looked for more mild pain medication but could only find Heroin. Heroin is very difficult to use in moderation. Unlike Hydrocodone. I could seek it out again. It's just not worth it.

I am content with Phenibut and some good video games, books and other media. Phenibut is a very mild euphorant with some recreational and therapeutic value.
