I decided to decided to try Kratom after knowing about it for several years. I'd read about it and decided that, being intrigued and slightly bored, it might be interesting to see what it is like. I ordered an ounce of powdered premium Bali kratom from an online vendor. The day it arrived I had work in the late afternoon and against my better judgment, I decided to try it anyway. I resolved to try a small dose and then another if I felt the effects were manageable. I prepared a mixture of liquid coffee, powdered hot chocolate, and 2.8 grams of powdered Kratom (I measured using a scale) and approximately 200 mg of powdered L-theanine (I am accustomed to adding this to my coffee) and after mixing it up I drank it down over the course of 15 minutes or so.
The taste of the Kratom was barely noticeable with cocoa, coffee and sugar, but I could taste it a little bit. It was a bit bitter and herbal-y but very much negligible. Although I had previously drank one cup of coffee shortly before, I definitely started to notice a slight difference in my mind and body. It was a slight buzz, definitely distinct from the caffeine. I would say I first noticed it as soon as 7 to 10 minutes after the first drinking it. I should mention I did not have a lot on my stomach, but I did just finish eating a light lunch of 3 eggs and some fruit. About 20 to 30 minutes in, I definitely could feel the effects. Honestly, it was a good feeling. I felt very awake and a little speedy. My mood was much more lifted than it already was.
I had to go to work, but I still wanted to continue my experiment – again against my better judgment—so I prepared another mixture of cocoa and 2.7 of kratom in a small bag and went to work. I was curious to see how interacting with other people would be like. I walked to work.
At work I felt great although I did notice that I felt a bit hot temperature-wise. My mood was still very much lifted, and I felt very talkative and amused.

In conclusion: overall I would say this was a positive experience. As this was my first time, I can’t say how the experience will repeat itself. I’d like to avoid the depressive effects of kratom when I do it again, so I might just stick to the lower doses for that. The stimulatory effects were very welcome for me.
