This was the single most difficult trip I've ever had in my entire hallucinogenic, semi-schizophrenic, psychedelic, growing-to-be-shamanic lifetime.

In terms of past experience I've had around 15 years of an on/off, ongoing relationship with psilocybin mushrooms, and apart from a few off periods where I've overdone it, I do consider the mushroom to be one of my greatest allies. Other than that, I've had a few acid trips in the past, 4 of which I remember well, 2 good and 2 not so good, after that I tended to steer more towards the mushroom for those sorts of psychedelic experiences. Then, I have had a lot of 2cb recently which I've really enjoyed, a trip which I find to be the perfect middle ground between a psychedelic trip and a recreational drug, and one which I've taken regularly recreationally that has helped me drink a lot less alcohol, and suffer far less the next day, I even come up feeling a little like roses in the summertime the following day sometimes, which is never the case after a heavy night on the booze. Then there's the two, that I consider to be the heavy, short-sharp trips; Salvia Divinorum and DMT, the former of which, when burnt at the right temperature (hot from a torch lighter) has put me in a frightening world of Gullivers travels-esque gnomes with sun like heads riding bikes amongst other things. Now the DMT experiences, some of which have been the most intense trips to date, but of a whole other nature, much more insightful and spiritually enlightening, have not been nearly as difficult.

I digress, the main point here is to try and detail what happened to me last night on a heavy dose of an unknown amount of MXE. I've had this drug in much milder doses before and always found it to be a pleasant experience; somewhat quite unlike Ketamine (either of the three main types) although similar in some senses, but that lasts quite a lot longer. Last night I sat down in front of the projector ( I don't own a TV, they're mostly shite) watching the film, The Comedy (2012), took a number of medium sized lines at regular intervals, coming up slightly to a mellow, Ketamine like trip, which is all I remember until I woke up from an unconscious slumber of some description to the resulting effect.

I did not know who I was, where I was, what my body was, what the fuck was happening or how it had happened. I had the strange feeling that the whole world was a conspiracy playing against me to manipulate me into a particular mode of living/ thought/ conditioning (which does hold some truth I know) mixed with God-like feelings of omnipotence, mixed with a feeling of complete, unceasing hell-on-earth insanity. I'm not sure how long it lasted but it had me engulfed in bouts of running up and down two flights of stairs in the house asking everyone for help, interspersed with periods of kneeling down and screaming at the world and asking 'what it wrong with my head?' I can't really do any more justice to the description at this point as a lot of the actual thoughts have eluded me, needless to say, in immediate terms, it was an extremely unpleasant and difficult experience. As always with most of the extreme sort of trips, the 'high' (loosely used term in this occurrence) was followed by a sense of having been psychologically purged, having unlearned some negatively affecting habits, and a feeling of light euphoria for a few hours as the trip subsided.

I wouldn't do it again in a rush, but never say never, it was a very interesting experience with an interesting substance that seems to have the capacity, for me at least, to break down some linguistic barriers learned from growing up in a lower working class northern English town. It was though, without a doubt the most difficult, not by any means the best or most enlightening or eye opening, but the most baffling and painful trip I've had.
