Stomach Issues Identified
Kratom

Citation:   WAO. "Stomach Issues Identified: An Experience with Kratom (exp103310)". Erowid.org. Aug 13, 2015. erowid.org/exp/103310

DOSE:
4 g oral Kratom (ground / crushed)
BODY WEIGHT: 130 lb
I’ve been using Kratom weekly for about a year now.
First it started off twice a week, then it became every day for a month, and now it relinquished back to one or twice a week. I have ingested all 8 different strains, as well as different routes of administration (toss and wash, tea with and w/o grinds, microwaved shots with and w/o grinds, as well as making an extremely concentrated spectrum tea. I must say toss and wash is by far the most effective method of ingestion by far.

To the point of my report:

In the past I have read reports of others who claim they have stomach pains around 16 hours after toss and wash ROA. I read a story about an individual who lived in Thailand with the natives who used kratom daily, and asked of its side effects to which they replied gastrointestinal ulcers. The time in which I began experiencing stomach pains was near the end of my daily use for about a month’s period twice a day. I was taking about 4-5 grams at a time. The stomach pain occurred around 16 hours’ afterwords, and the pain developed rather fast and quickly became intolerable. It felt like gas but the pain was far worse, introducing itself every few minutes, and then disappearing for a few minutes.

The pain felt like it was radiating from around, or maybe right above, my belly button. When I first felt the pain, I immediately stopped taking the kratom. The pain persisted for the next three days, slowly becoming a very little bit less painful as the days went on. I have experienced this type of pain in the past, and discovering the culprit to its cause to be vitamin water. Whenever I drink vitamin water I get this same type of pain. So after my stomach pain from the kratom went away, I waited a few days, and then had myself another dose. Not too long after I was experiencing the pain again, and I feel extremely safe to say that this is definitely causing the problem.

However, when I was going through the pain I made an appointment with a gastroenterologist to have an EGD - esophagogastroduodenoscopy. They put me to sleep and shoved a camera down my throat to look at whats been going on down there. My test results showed inflammation in the duodenum. So those who receive stomach pains are likely running into this problem. Kratom must irritate it to the point of inflammation, so it will hurt, especially when foods and liquids pass through.

This news was disappointing.
So now I take kratom a lot less (once or twice a week)
I take it with black cumins seed oil and my intestinal problems have reversed significantly. It treats flatulence, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, constipation and dysentery. Physicians to the Egyptian pharaohs frequently used the seeds after extravagant feasts to calm upset stomachs. They also used the seeds to treat headaches, toothaches, colds, and infections. Hundreds of studies have been conducted on black cumin which have shown that compounds from the seeds help fight diseases by boosting the production of bone marrow, natural interferon, and immune cells.

I hope this report will be able to help others. Taking something that will fight the inflaming properties of kratom, i believe, is extremely beneficial in reducing harm over long term use.
