This is not the first time I've taken buprenorphine.
This is not the first time I've taken buprenorphine.
T+0:00 - I take 2/3 of a 2mg/0.5 strip of suboxone. I start here because I've tolerated 1mg well previously, but understand that bupe is orders of magnitude more potent than oxy or codeine, so the effect:dosage ratio is pretty huge for this drug. I turn on a documentary on netflix and wait for the effects to come on.
T+0:45 - I feel a faint tinge of opiate intoxication coming on, indicating that the naloxone will soon be clearing my system. I continue to wait.
T+1:15 - The bupe is now in full effect. The body load is comparable to about 10mg of oxy, though there's somewhat less euphoria. I'd heard that benzos can potentiate the euphoriant effects of bupe, so I pull out the 0.5mg ativan I'd been saving for a rainy day and toss it in my mouth.
T+2:10 - The ativan has kicked in. I've got a smile on my face, and all is right with the world. I feel warm and cozy in bed, and I have a very positive attitude. I decide to watch Hook, a favorite movie from my childhood. It just feels right.
T+2:45 - The high has stabilized at a functional level, but I'm in the mood to nod a bit, so I decide to take the remaining 1/3 of the first suboxone strip. I continue watching the movie.
T+4:00 - The film is over, and I'm fading in and out of sleep. I hear the garage door open above me, signaling my parents' return from the social function they'd been attending. Suffice it to say I'm not in the best shape to interact with my very conservative parents. Fortunately, I am prescribed dexmethylphenidate to treat my ADD. While I rarely take the stuff since it sends my anxiety into overdrive, I figure this would be an opportune moment to take some to balance out the sedation of the bupe. I chop up a 10mg pill and snort it in about four lines. I wait a couple minutes for the DMPH to kick in.
T+4:30 - That did the trick. I was able to talk to my folks without arousing any suspicion. I am, however, feeling a bit anxious, as the dose of DMPH I took was a bit over-compensatory
the dose of DMPH I took was a bit over-compensatory
T+5:50 - The DMPH and bupe have struck a beautiful balance. I am quite relaxed, but intensely focused. Normally, I would be unable to devote this much uninterrupted time to a single art project, but at this point I've reached a flow state, and am very engaged in my drawing. I've created a dinosaur/kaiju-esque alien, with heavy emphasis on the muscular structure and sinew. It's one of the better drawings I've done in the past year. I am quite content, until my focus is interrupted by my sister and her boyfriend who have decided to park and chat right outside my room. This interruption causes an intense rage to spring up inside me, no doubt a side effect of my DMPH-augmented dopamine levels. Fortunately, the bupe has me too sedated to do anything destructive/stupid. I politely ask them to relocate, which they do kindly. I get back to my drawing.
T+7:10 - I've finished the drawing. It came together pretty darn well, though I think I'll have my girlfriend who has a BFA in illustration critique it, at which point I'll make revisions. By this point, the high is starting to destabilize and become edgy/paranoid, which is typical when I crash off stims. It's also far past when I usually go to sleep (I typically get to sleep around 10pm, I'm old like that). I decide to try and bring myself back to center by slamming a beer.
T+7:25 - The beer worked like a charm. I'm now pretty chilled out, and I still have a mild opiate buzz going on. I think it's just about time to get to sleep.
Final thoughts:
This is the first time I've combined opiates and stims. I must say, I now understand what all the fuss is about. It was a very euphoric combination. And, provided the dosages aren't TOO high, it seems to be a very functional combination. I will definitely be doing this again, though I'll probably save it for a time I need to get a big school project done, as it seems especially conducive to monotonous cerebral tasks.
