I found myself enjoying my fantasies with wild abandon. Eventually I went too far and decided I didn't like the animal effect it had on me, and tipped the rest of the bottle. The next week I was a little depressed and couldn't even be bothered to masturbate to relieve my mood. I decided I had to get some more, this time I bought some more of the same brand, along with another brand.
Now, I know they're all the same in principle - Isopropyl Nitrite. But the second brand had markedly stronger negative effects on me. I suffered visual problems on every use (something like an ocular migraine) which took a good half an hour to pass. This bothered me. I also found the mental effect more 'fierce' - quick and heavy. I decided to switch to the brand I knew, and used it for a further two weeks, experimenting with dose and timing for best effect.
The problem came when I got a heavy cold, which went to my chest and necessitated antibiotics to fend off the secondary infection. I didn't use poppers when I was ill, but once I'd started to recover, so about 3 days into the Amoxy. On this occasion I sniffed about double the normal amount

Cut a long story short I ended up in A&E (ER) for the first time in my life with a medical emergency. My blood oxygen levels had dropped to 90% and I needed 3 lots of nebulizers. The diagnosis hyper-reactive airways, which is a life-long over-sensitivity in some people.
It might be just a coincidence. But it did seem weird I was getting better then suddenly needed emergency treatment. I might be misunderstanding the biochemistry, and maybe I just had a particularly bad infection. I was clear with the medical staff about my use of poppers the previous day and they did not mention them as a possible cause.
Most users would probably not use poppers with a chest infection. Many users would choose a different delivery method. But I felt I ought to record my experience as honestly as possible in case of a genuine link.
