I found out about a substance called galatamine which is apparently given to people with alzheimer's to improve their memory. I was intrigued because I have an absolutely terrible memory. It's sold legally on completely normal herbal medicine websites, and was also advertised for creating lucid dreaming states.

Usually things that enhance dreams are a bit of downers and cause drowsyness. Galatamine actually seems like a very slight stimulant, and made it noticably harder to get to sleep.

The effects on dreams were completely weird. I started to have really scary dreams. This was in large part due to dreaming that I was in very dark places, rooms with little to no light. In the dream I remember I saw a girl with an odd face, but I wasn't scared of her, I was just really uneasy and worried about the entire situation, but not terrified. I was trying to find something in the darkness, and couldn't, and felt really uneasy, like I'd smoked some really edgy weed.

I did not have any lucid dreams. In between mildly nightmarish dream states, I woke up briefly, and realized that not seeing light in my dreams was very strange

and not something that typically happens. Usually, dream states are ones where I'm at ease and in my element. I felt the lack of light was exactly that - a normal dream place that was somehow missing light to see by. I also noticed that I seemed closer to dreaming than usual - immediately after falling asleep again I'd start to dream.

The next day I was unusually worn out and tired.
