As a young university student in a foreign country, I, along with a few other American friends, were constantly looking for ways to get high. A local 'freak' told us to 'eat 3 nutmegs, wait 4 hours, and you will trip'. That's what we did, and that's basically what happened.
We would buy whole nutmegs in the local open-air market, grate them with a cheese grater (lost a bunch of skin), put the powder in a bottle of coke, and drink it down while struggling to not gag from the intense taste. Four hours later, we were high, with mild hallucinogenic properties. It would last 6-10 hours. I don't remember any bad side effects or after effects. But I was 18.
This may not be the most informative entry... but it represents a memory that has not surfaced for several decades.
