The Story: I was following a recipe for an 'Ayahuasca' brew which I have used before with quite a success.
I weighted out about 5g of Syrian Rue seeds and began boiling some water. I tossed the seeds in and let it simmer for awhile.
As I was preparing my brew I placed my face over the pot and inhaled the steam/vapors deeply. The smell was intense and I felt a piercing sensation through my nostrils.
The smell was intense and I felt a piercing sensation through my nostrils.
I've drank an Syrian Rue brew before and I felt the same effects but it felt very dirty. It obviously wasn't as intense but I did feel as if I was coming up.
I wasn't planning on having a trip as I had to go to work about an hour and a half later. Over the next 30 minutes I prepared for work I was feeling quite ill. My sinus' got a clogged up and it smelt like blood, even though I wasn't bleeding. There was a pressure building up in my head and I started to feel fatigued.
I had to lay down for a little bit. I started to get all hazy and I found it hard to concentrate. It's been about an hour since I inhaled the vapors and it was about time I headed to work. I knew I shouldn't drive but I forced myself to get to work.
The drive wasn't too bad (almost like driving after smoking some hash). As I arrived to work I developed a terrible headache and was moving slow. I told everyone I was feeling sick and they sympathized with me.
As I started working I noticed colors were starting to look brighter. My sense of smell was also intensified. Working with food made me feel nauseated because I could smell the entire aroma that it protruded. This was about two hours after I inhaled the vapors now.
My work decided to send me home because they thought I was developing the flu. I made it home safely but was barely able to concentrate on driving.
I started to feel better around the four hour mark but it was still a little much. It was an unexpected but not entirely horrible.
