Since being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2005 I have been subjected to 10 years of misery via today's accepted drug therapy. Currently I ingest 30 mg of extended release morphine sulphate every 8 hours by mouth.

At 30-day intervals a script for 90 tabs is waiting for me at the doctors office. 6 months ago I had a 'bad' month with multiple flare-ups. 4 days before re-fill time I had no pills. I had the script, but a disclaimer read ' do not fill until--' . At first I did not feel too bad but soon got major sick. My heart was pounding and my blood pressure was off the scale. My wife, frantic with fear, drove me to the hospital and checked me into the ER.

The nurse took vital signs and the doctor gave me a short interview. The doctor instructed the nurse 'give him a shot of morphine '. The nurse and doctor left the room and came back with a syringe and gave me a shot--unbelievable but true. They gave me a script for vicodin to get through 4 days.

Needless to say I have not run short again.

I bought poppy seed. I have a nice crop of TAZ poppies and the latex alleviates all pain and makes makes me feel better then I can remember. I am hoping that I can use the plants to get off the pills.
