Shroomahausca AKA MAOI Psilocybin

I plan to pursue Desmanthus illinoensis for a DMT source, since it grows in my area. In this report I am describing an experience using Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms, and can only assume that a true ayahausca blend, using DMT would vary significantly from my experience.

MAOIs can possibly interact with Tyramine in the body to cause tachycardia. To prevent this, I observed a NO TYRAMINE DIET for about a week before use.

My setting: alone in my house, which I usually share with four roommates (I was actually able to clean it, which is what allowed me to take this trip- I could personally hardly have a good experience in a dirty house). I've rented a few movies and CDs, as my previous experiences with P. harmala on its own had taught me that under MAOI influence I can't do a whole lot of moving. Since I was to be experimenting with shroomahausca, I had given instructions to a good friend who lived downstairs to check on me every so often, to ensure my safety. It's a beautiful, cloudy spring day.

To create my brew I ground about three tbsp. of dried Rue seeds and put them in a coffee filter, brewing twice, and boiling down the resulting liquid to a mug's worth of intensely red, horrid-smelling tea. I drank this with considerable difficulty as the taste was overwhelmingly bitter. I had previously ground and begun to soak 3 g of P. cubes in lemon juice (an acidic medium will not only mask the flavor, but begin to break down the prodrug psilocybin into the active compound psilocin), which I drank about 20 minutes after the Rue tea.

I go on a short walk to the store to pick up a gingerale in order to settle my stomach. (I've also learned in my earlier MAOI uses that they give me intense gastrointestinal issues, on account of which I had eaten only oatmeal before this trip). On my way back I climb a hill to a park near my house to look down over the city, and enjoy what seemed like the last few minutes before the rain. I see three deer grazing, and after I try to approach them, they amble off in search of more peaceful territory. As I take a look at the fantastic view, the rain begins and I head home.

As I return, I'm already starting to feel a vague rumbling of the stomach, so I lay down in bed with ginger ale at my side and put on one of the chosen CDs. After a few minutes of listening, I begin to hear slight auditory distortion accompanied by a feeling of lightness and peripheral blurring of the sight.

The stomachache has become more acute, and in a last ditch effort to fight the nausea I smoke a little weed on the porch and listen to the rain with my downstairs neighbor. All efforts to postpone puking failed, however, as I vomited multiple times (as crimson coming up as it was going down) for much of the next... Half hour? Hour and a half? I lost track of time at this point, and began to wonder if I had crossed a line this time and stepped soundly into the realm of poisoning myself.

With nothing left in me, and weak, I stumbled back to my bedroom armed with a bucket in case I somehow had anything more to throw up. My reality at this point was quite muddled, and my vision somewhat telescoping, with faint tracers accompanying my movements. With closed eyes on my bed again, listening to another CD (this time Leonard Cohen’s ‘Old Ideas’), I began to see complex patterns and images play out on my eyelids, and felt a deep connection to the music akin to little I have ever felt before.

For the next unknown amount of time I felt as though I had melded into my bed, and probably looked asleep to my friend who dutifully came to check up on me (although I hadn’t puked recently, the nauseous feeling was not at all quick to leave). For what seemed like an age, the most I was able to do was get up to change the CD and sip the ginger ale, occasionally shambling to the bathroom (I mean this literally- my motor skills were considerably impaired) to stare the porcelain in the face until my body remembered that it was as empty as ever.

When I got tired of the music and switched to a movie, probably around T:2:30, is when the peak seemed to come. The movie was a live portrayal of The Merchant of Venice, and as I put it in, I was seeing extreme tracers behind my arm and hand movements, and as I moved otherwise, the world appeared to move past me instead of vice versa (a very strange feeling that is hard for me to describe). The movie, what I was able to keep my eyes open for anyway, seemed to make absolutely no sense, and I continued to feel that certain scenes repeated themselves again and again ad nauseum. Meanwhile, the movie in my mind took on more beautiful and astounding shapes and colors than in any other closed-eye visuals from my handful of other tripping experiences (with LSD and psilocybin in moderate doses). Beyond just visual stimuli, I felt a deep connection with the Earth, and had the feeling of being embraced by another entity or personality (that others have referred to as ‘Mother Ayahausca’ but that I place more as a watchful-elder role). I also was taking lines out of context from the movie and marveling at Shakespeare’s genius- while my body was nearly comatose at this point, my mind was racing.

At the end of the movie, and after a little more music I was able to take another trip to the porch to listen to the rain, as the nausea and weakness had somewhat subsided.

The ‘tripping’ feeling persisted through much of the night, and I watched ‘The Hobbit’ before being able to fall asleep.

The next day I went back to work, with the awesome ‘aftershock’ euphoria that comes from psilocybin use combined with a will to try to integrate the experiences of the previous night with reality. This has not been completely accomplished yet, and maybe never will be.

These seeds are really powerful, and the resulting combination seemed to lean more towards the Rue on its own than your average mushroom trip. I will probably use an MAOI only one more time when I am able to get my hands on some D. illinoensis root bark to extract DMT from in order to achieve a true ayahausca experience- otherwise I will steer clear, since I can’t stomach it.

This report represents only my own experience and is only shared since I haven’t found too much in the way of information about this particular combination, and hoped that my experiences could help to educate others.
