The hardest obstacle to get past taking kratom is well, taking it. If not highly extracted, it's a bit of a chore to get in my system, with the bitter taste and the consistency of the powder. I find mixing it in shakes is the best way to mask the bitterness, though it's not the healthiest route to take. I mainly just take it straight - placing two 1/4th teaspoons of the powder under my tongue, clumping it up, and taking a considerate gulp of liquid (preferrably non-carbonated) swishing it around to break up the clumps, and CAREFULLY swallowing while taking another gulp. I've had a couple times where the powder stuck to my airways or uvula, which is very uncomfortable and vomit inducing.

Working on kratom is generally very nice, especially with physical work. I wouldn't say it gives me motivation, but it gets rid of my unmotivation. Kratom is weirdly relaxing yet stimulating, easing the stress I may feel at work. On the other hand, sleeping on kratom is pretty hard to do. I can describe the feeling as 'feeling relaxed, but awake', I can get into the sleepy mood, but drifting off to sleep is a harder obstacle to get past.
Here's a gist of the different effects different dosages of kratom have on me personally:
(0.5-1tsp) - Very light stimulating effects (even with red strains), this is my personal threshold dose. Work is easier, thoughts are clearer, though there's not much analgesia or marked euphoria.
(1-2tsp) - The stimulating/sedating mix of effects starts to become apparent, physical work is easier, the mind becomes less cluttered yet more relaxed, to the point where excessive mental work can be more of a chore. Apparent analgesia and euphoria compaired to a light dose of an opiate (~1-2 hydros), hunger becomes somewhat of an enigma to me, I don't feel hungry but I could eat something, as opposed to my prescription Vyvanse which makes eating a chore.
(2-3tsp) - The more sedating effects start to dominate the stimulating ones, physical work is easier, mental work is harder. The warm and light nodding becomes apparent, sometimes to the point of acheiving light aural CEV's. This is the dose I usually take when meditating or chilling out. Light to moderate nausea becomes apparent on occasion depending on stomach contents. I'd compare it to maybe ~2-4 hydros.
(3-5tsp) - This is basically the nirvana of kratom's effects, moderate to strong sedating effects compared to a moderate dose of opiates, this is also where some of the more~ dissociating effects come in. Eyelids kind of heavy, mind drifting off into serenity with fairly apparent aural CEV's. The fuzzy/itchy opiate/dissociative feeling becomes very noticable. Depending on how well I hold down stuff, nausea and vomiting are not out of the ordinary.
(5tsp+) - This is basically what I'd kind of consider wasting my kratom. Effects are not too different from the prior, the only difference is an increase in nausea and vomiting.
-----------
Mixing kratom with other drugs is kind of similar to weed, some things go really well with it, some combinations yield no distinct effects, and some cancel out some of the effects of both. This is a wonderful substance. I hope the legality of kratom stays where it's at, because it helps tons of people.
