I have had experience with a number of other chemicals e.g. LSD, Cannabis, benzos, Painkillers, stimulants, Alcohol, Kava, Kratom ect. However I had never tried one of the most notorious drugs, coke.

One evening I went over to my dealers apartment to pick up bars of xanex. I had been sleeping poorly and my roommate wakes up early on weekends waking me up. I figured I would take a small amount to fall asleep early that evening to catch up on sleep and hopefully get an early start on work.

When I walked in on his desk was a notorious clear bag with white powder in it. I asked him if it was what I thought it was and he confirmed my suspicion. I told him that I had always thought about trying it (since I had previously experimented with other stimulants) and wondered if he would sell me just a single line worth to test it out. He pointed to a small line already on the table and said for $5 I could just take it right here right now. Since I had no clue what the cost of coke usually is and I figured this small amount wouldn’t kill me I said what the hell. I knew if something went bad I could just take the Xanex I bought and pass out.

So leading into this next part I should state that I expected something pretty different from what I got. I had a few stints with Aderall and speed and knew well what stimulants usually did. I additionally had quite all stimulants for months at this point (including caffeine) since it seemed to be contributing to a really bad mood.

Anyways, after taking the line I immediately felt a jolt of energy and began walking back to my apartment with long strides. It was snowy and cold outside and had trudged to the spot with great anguish moments before. This time however it was different. Within a minute of walking out my entire mood had changed. I had plenty of energy, had a noticeable smile on my face and felt a irresistible urge to fight someone. I of course avoided such confrontation and instead was still perfectly able to laugh at the thought.

When I arrived back at my apartment it had been approximately 10 minutes after ingestion. I was still at a pretty high point in the experience and therefore decided to pack it up and head to a practice room at my local university to play some drums (which I figured would be fun with all my energy).

As I began walking up a large hill on my way to this location I began feeling a lightning in my shoulders and chest. This is a similar feeling I felt when on other stimulants, mostly on the come down though. It could stem from a period where I was abusing such drugs and therefore caused some sort of pulmonary issue. Its more likely however that this feeling was associated with the hyper-focused mindset paying attention to how out of shape I was climbing the hill. It wasn’t intense at all though and so I kept moving.

By the time I reached the drum set I was still energetic, but many of the euphoria feelings were rubbing off. This felt strange to me since I expected it to last much longer. I grabbed my favorite pair of drums sticks and began to play. I noticed no difference in my ability both in terms of rhythm and speed when playing. I thought everything was perfectly normal until I was about to walk out and I realized I had been playing with two drums sticks of insanely different size. One was extremely light and thin (designed for jazz) while the other was thick and heavy (for rock and metal). Now I never make this mistake normally. It is usually blatantly obvious since the heavy sticks are just not able to create faster triplets or beats. This leads me to believe either the coke gave me some sort of speed and strength benefit which enabled me to ignore the weight and awkwardness of it or perhaps it made me lose focus. The latter seems unlikely since stimulants usually provide unnatural awareness of surroundings however both seem viable to me.

By the time I had left the room I was feeling very different. While I was still energized I felt sad or slightly depressed. By the time I arrived back at my room the comedown was in effect. In total the high seemed to last for about 30-40 minutes or so. While I didn’t feel the need to take more (though who knows what have happened if I had purchased more) I did start feeling some of the more classic effects of the stimulant comedown such as depression, tiredness (with insomnia), and headaches. At this point it was still only around 9:00 so I decided to take a quarter bar of Xanex (around 1mg according to the dealer) and go to bed.

The next morning I woke up feeling pretty awful. It was snowing heavily outside and upon taking a snapchat of my reaction I noticed yellow bags under my eyes (my plan to catch up on sleep had horribly failed). My eyes felt noticeably heavy and while I had no headache my mouth was dry and my head was fuzzy (probably more due to the xanex). I must admit it is one of the more aggressive comedowns/withdrawals I have experienced. I can clearly see how addictive it could be.

It had seemingly no benefits other than a small boost in euphoria and energy (which I could easily get from an anti-depressant prescribed to me and a cup of coffee) and has a great potential for addiction. It didn’t make me feel focused or energized to do anything but bang on drums and fight people with withdrawal symptoms that are debilitating.
