[Erowid Note: The term "acid" has been used as a common name for d-LSD since the 1960s. Although confusion associated with newer psychoactive substances has lead some people to use the term "acid" to refer to anything LSD-like or anything psychedelic on blotter or sold in drops, we believe this represents an error and not a useful evolution in language.]
Dropping Acid on a Cruise Ship

It was my idea to drop acid on a cruise ship in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. For some reason, some of my friends wanted to do it too.

I wasn't worried. Not because it sounded like a good idea but because I was on the verge of blackout. This was my second time taking a benzo, and I don't drink often. Mixing Clonazolam and vodka was me begging for memory loss. But I suppose it was great for getting rid of anxiety.

At around 10 pm, I gave my two willing friends a half tab of AL-LAD. This was their first time with a psych stronger than weed and we were all drunk, they wanted to go easy on the acid. They ate their halves, I ate a full.

I don't remember coming up. I remember being what felt like sober, then a moment later lying on the ground laughing with 3 other people. Faces were rearranging, lightbulbs were spotlights, and everyone's hair was flowing. The usual acid stuff.
I don't remember leaving the room, but I remember walking with my friends to the hot tubs. On the way there, I stopped to admire a painting. It was a renaissance style woman, standing in a dim room. The painting had a distinct 3D depth to it, and her dress was rippling.

To my surprise, the benzo and alcohol seemed to leave the visual intensity of the AL-LAD alone. but my memory of that night is almost nonexistent. I remember feeling euphoria, and acting like a child, the rest of the night is a vague slideshow of happy faces.

The night sky was massive and the ocean was powerful. I remember looking over back of the ship. I felt as if I could see every ripple in the moonlit wake. A friend standing next to me agreed, but said it scared him. I replied, 'It's cool as shit.' Only one bad thing happened that night, I fried my phone in the hot tub. But it's okay, because I was so fucked up that I laughed my ass off. I remember saying, 'I don't care right now, but in the morning I'm going to cry.' I had bought the phone only three days before, and didn't have insurance.

I thought this story was worth telling because of the lack of reports of AL-LAD mixed with benzos. And because before I left for my cruise, the internet told me it'd be a bad idea to drop acid on a cruise ship. Bad idea? Sure. But it was fun.
