Interactions between LSD Shrooms and Effexor
I wanted to write about my experiences and interactions between LSD and Effexor, and mushrooms and effexor. I have been taking Effexor for about three years daily, and at 225 mgs for about 1.5 years for depression. I have taken other antidepressants in the past and found effexor to be most helpful. I have also done many other drugs recreationally in the past, however no medication or drug has stunted the effects of LSD or shrooms as effexor has. I should also add that effexor has NOT diminished the effects of marijuana or alcohol for me, though it HAS diminished the recreational effects of ambien and percocet. I assume MDMA would also be diminished but I have yet to try it.
Before I began taking effexor I had done LSD and other drugs which produced trippyness. On those trips, I experienced all the typical symptoms of LSD such as euphoria, heightened sensations, visual distortions and enhancements, etc. In the past year, I have tried several times to trip in the same way on LSD but these attempts have not worked. At most I felt euphoria, but no visual effects. One time I tried not taking my effexor for one day while I took 300 micrograms of LSD, and I had physical sensations of tripping but the lack of visual or pleasant effects. The withdrawal from the effexor was horrible, especially combined with physical effects of LSD, and I would not suggest to anyone to miss a dose or to stop taking it for LSD or shrooms as it did NOT work.
While also on 225 mgs of effexor, I took 7 grams of shrooms orally, and while I had a wonderful euphoria and admired the increased vibrancy of colors and sensations, there were no other visual distortions typical of shrooms.
However, recently I ingested 500 micrograms of LSD while also on the effexor and I did experience some visual distortions and enhancements typical of the drug, although I could tell the effexor was suppressing the full effects. I only had visual distortions when I looked closely at something or focused my vision, otherwise I experienced only euphoria, brighter and more vibrant surroundings, and some disappointment at not fully tripping.
I can only conclude that effexor, especially at high dosages will seriously diminish and suppress the trippy effects of LSD and shrooms. I will not be wasting my money and time on either of these drugs unless it is going to be in higher amounts. If I had not taken LSD or shrooms with effexor before, however, I would have started with a low or casual dose, and if no effects present within an hour or so, then ingesting more of the substance, rather than taking it all at once. Effexor is also a very serious drug and withdrawals from it come within 24 hours and are notorious for being very unpleasant. I will not stop taking effexor for any reason without my doctor's approval.
