BODY WEIGHT: 150 lb
Went to the doctor for flu-like symptoms and got a huge syringe full of a clear liquid injected into my butt muscle. It was completely painless, I didn't even know it was done by the time it was over, but it itched after a while, and then felt kind of bruised for a couple of days. No big deal.

By the time I got out of the exam room and into the lobby to pick up my paperwork I already noticed a significant increase in my heart rate, and what felt like a more focused sense of mental acuity. In retrospect, I was amped, but in a way I didn't really recognize at the time.

I was already fairly sleep deprived from being sick with the tossing and turning all night for a couple of nights in a row. The skin under my eyes had already started to darken by the time I took the shot. Later that evening after leaving the doctor's office I tried to take a nap because I was exhausted, but couldn't sit still
I was exhausted, but couldn't sit still
and couldn't calm my thoughts enough to even come close to falling asleep. I wound up staying awake all night surfing the Internet with my eyes bulging and constantly reaching for my nicotine vaporizer. I was constantly thirsty as well, with my mouth going dry easily between the effects of this crap and the propylene glycol from the vaporizer.

Dawn eased through the cracks in the blinds and I felt like garbage. I was kind of sore from laying down all night and was hungry but couldn't bring myself to go make something to eat. I wound up subsisting off of fast food for the day, and not much of it. Later that night I ate most of a large pizza loaded with toppings and downed a 2 liter of soda along with it.

Then the second night of insomnia was ahead of me, same bugged-out surfing session, same ass crack of dawn penetrating my eyes hours later, and more fast food throughout the day. I had trouble picking up after myself, and by the time the third night rolled around I looked like a zombie. I was still sick, with serious secondary infections setting in to my lungs and sinuses. ~70 hours after this shot I am still wide awake but barely functional. The mental acuity seemed to come and go
~70 hours after this shot I am still wide awake but barely functional. The mental acuity seemed to come and go
, and it wasn't until late in the 3rd (or was it the 4th?) day that I managed to pass out hard, but only for a couple of hours.

If any of this is sounding familiar to anyone, yes, the effects are remarkably similar, except I felt how tired I was and couldn't do anything about it. After waking up from that initial coma, I was again awake for another 24 hours, and then my sleep cycle started to normalize, but not without feeling extremely drained. It has been about a week since I had that shot and every time I wake up from a four hour nap (I am still unable to sleep 8 full hours) I feel like I have broken glass in my eyes and as if I am still extremely sleep deprived.

This stuff was supposed to reduce the inflammation in my sinuses so they could drain. I was also prescribed prednisone and some codeine, and I think part of the reason I have had what sleep I have had is because of the codeine. I was given a lot, too, and now I'm hoping the prednisone will take the edge off of the mini-withdrawal I will feel from that bottle.

Dexamethasone is poison. It kept me awake for days while I had the flu and didn't do anything for me as far as treatment goes as far as I can tell.
