We'll start with set. It was me and my partner (F, 22, Avg Weight) she took very slightly less, her being smaller. She has tried 4-Aco once before some years ago. For me I had only had experiences with acid until this point (taken 1p-LSD about 7 times now). So very familiar with acid but this was my first mushroom-like experience. We were both in a good frame of mind, with no commitments on the day or the following day (which is today, as I write). We've had it for a week or so already waiting for the right day. Yesterday was perfect, we had a spate of nasty weather but yesterday the sun came beaming out.

We dropped at 12 noon and headed to our local park. We made sure to pack a backpack with things we'd need like water and took some sketchbooks too. It's the perfect place to go, it's a common technically so larger than a park (about 1 square mile), it has open fields and dense forested sections. By the time we got to our favorite spot, looking out across a large open space lined with trees all around, it was just kicking so we settled down on bench made from a fallen tree and watched and waited.

It was coming on within 30 mins (I should interject hear that I always set a stop-clock running on my phone when I drop so I know when to expect the peak, etc. ) and I was getting a very familiar acid sensation, warm feeling inside and a little weary that things were about to get intense. We had endless amusement watching people walking their dogs, especially watching dogs interact with each other. We were also fascinated by clouds, it was a windy day and there were some very dramatic clouds moving fast over us.

We got up at the 45 minute mark and walked a loop coming back to our sitting spot. I remarked, as we were coming up to 1 hour, 'I feel like I'm already in the throes of a hard acid trip.' We got back to our spot just as the cloud overhead gave way to the sun again, perfect timing. That's when the visual effects began occurring, I saw a lot of geometry, at points the whole sky was divided up into hexagonal cells. The already dramatic clouds we could see took on even more life; swirling and forming figurative shapes like animals and faces. I also observed a strong 'breathing' effect when looking down at the ground, I could make it align with my own breathing and make it go to even further extremes.

We sat for about another half hour until we decided we were ready to move, we walked out into the open field, basked in the sun for a few moments and then headed down a less-used trail into the forested area. We mostly just talked as we walked around and enjoyed the challenge of walking through the thick mud on the forest paths. One of my favorite things in this part was listening to bird-song there were so many overlapping calls of different species all clashing, it was fascinating.
I feel now a rejuvenated appreciation for the sheer complexity and overwhelming beauty of nature.

When we got to about 2.5 hours we decided to head back to the house, with the intent of delving inwards. We had great fun on the way back just watching other people going about their business, we humans really are a funny bunch. We got home (2hrs45) went up to our bedroom, blacked out the curtains with a blanket, put on blindfolds and listened to some music that was significant to us. This period provided me with some truly intense, overwhelming and wonderful visions.

This is where the title comes in. One of my favorite bands is Canadian legends Rush. If you don't know they have a few very long songs that are written as narratives. The one that resonated with me most was 'Cygnus X-1 - Book 2: Hemispheres'. It tells a story of the Greek gods Apollo and Dionysus, here standing for the Mind (reason) and the Heart (love) battling for the soul of man. Out of the ensuing chaos and battle is born Cygnus (God of Balance).

I am dead and yet unborn

Marble white and purest gold'

This section is when I saw it in my mind I felt myself as the disembodied spirit of Cygnus. I rose above the clouds and there it was, so perfect and beautiful I couldn't even stand it, I had started to cry as soon as I saw it.

Then I realized that I was Cygnus or rather that what I AM is a disembodied spirit that essentially holds balance between heart and mind. I finally understood this piece on a profound level. It's an experience I will never forget. Even as I write this now there are tears in my eyes.

We listened to some other great tracks by Rush, John Frusciante, Buckethead and Shpongle. It was great way to round off the trip (peak ended at about 5 hours from dropping). This stuff is fantastic, my spirit feels rejuvenated and my find mind feels more active. I should also mention that I am in therapy for Social Anxiety Disorder, I've been making strides toward recovery lately and after this I've never felt so confident.
