I did a lot of of oxy's, vic's, perc's etc from the age of 17 to 26 when I could get them, which was (lucky for me) dispersed between weeks or months at a time. When I broke away from the culture and stopped looking for opiates I fell into a pretty deep depression. Shortly thereafter I got some help from my family and started seeing a Buprenorphine support group. I was on Suboxone for around 5 years, starting with an 8mg/day dose and eventually tapering to about .25mg/day before kicking it. Getting off wasn't even that bad, the worst part being the lack of sleep. I had been clean for around 4 months (with the occasional kratom indulgence.) When I just happened upon some free 100 mcg/hr Fentanyl patches - 2 to be exact.
Due to my love of opiates, and the fact that these patches almost literally fell into my lap, I couldn't resist. I had done fentanyl a few other times when I was younger, once or twice with a lollipop and a couple other times with the Mylan Patches. There wasn't the kind of documentation about the dangers of fentanyl the first few times I did it, but I was pretty in tune with how I felt on opiates and I knew when something was feeling too strong. I also knew that this stuff was supposed to be 100x stronger than Morphine, so I made sure to play it safe. The experiences were glowing. With just a small portion of the patch (the Mylan patches are the ones that can be cut up and used) I was in complete bliss for 48 hours (the patches say 72 hours but the effects noticeably tapered off after around 48.) Fast forward to recently with the two Fentanyl patches. I had been clean for a while, so I decided to be extra careful. I should also point out that the patches were almost 10 years past their expiration date, so I was wondering if they would even work.
I cut about a 1/6 off one of the patches and slapped it on my chest. About 4 hours later I started to feel the effects (having been clean for a few months it was like night and day). After about 8 hours it started to feel a little too strong. I gave it another 2 hours and decided it was a little too risky given my now low tolerance. I took it off and went to bed.
I woke up the next day feeling refreshed and decided to have another go at one of the patches. This set me off on my 2 week Fentanyl bender where I wasn't not sober for one minute of the day. I can't stress enough the potency of this stuff. I had patches that were TEN YEARS expired and they had me flying. I was able to cut them into 1/6's and maintain a lovely glowing buzz over the next two weeks.
Towards the end of the experience I started getting extremely anxious and nervous about running out. I decided I didn't want to fall back into the opiate trap so I powered through. After the last of the patches was gone I started having some mild, but not life ruining withdrawal symptoms that I can pretty much attribute to my mentality. There was very little in the way of physical withdrawals, muscle spasms occasionally and it has been very difficult to sleep. But the worst part was my cravings
the worst part was my cravings
Bottom line - don't be dumb with this stuff! If you are the type of drug user who chases that fast onset of bliss that floors you I would highly advise avoiding fentanyl at all costs. It's not worth it! I can't imagine taking a straight shot of this stuff, the slow stream flowing through a transdermal patch has strong effects, I can see how this stuff kills so many people. If you are like me and enjoy prolonged mild effects then if you take this stuff BE CAREFUL. It was more potent than I thought. With no tolerance I was able to split a 100mcg/hr patch into 6 pieces and have them work effectively over the course of 12 days. This is crazy, just think about that for a second. Also, be aware that if you take this route it won't be easy once it's done. After just two and a half weeks of constant use I felt like I had developed a pretty severe psychological addiction to this stuff, which I am still in the process of trying to kick.
