During Quarantine, I ran out of weed, and alcohol quickly became an unsustainable additive for thwarting boredom, so I decided to see what I had in the cupboard. My sleeping pills, which I hardly ever use, consist of 25 mg Diphenhydramine and 500mg Acetaminophen. I decided on roughly half-hour intervals, initially taking 3 whole pills at approximately 6:00pm, 1 whole pill at 6:30, and then half doses at about 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, and 8:30 for a total of 6 pills.
I started at 6:00, and within half of an hour it hit me pretty hard. The feeling at first was similar to being crossfaded on alcohol and weed. There is an overwhelming feeling of sinking into whatever I was sitting on or laying on and a warmth passed over my whole body similar to an alcohol buzz or ketamine bump, but with no noticeable vertigo or other signs that I was on anything. However, the biggest difference in this combination compared to any other drug I've done, was feeling completely present in my mental capacity, but at the same time having my sense of time is wildly distorted. By the time I had consumed most of the pills I genuinely believed it was between 11:00pm or midnight. When I checked the clock, it wasn't even 8:00 yet.
I decided to whip out the my bass guitar and play some Tool riffs to see if experiencing music would be affected by the combo. It was affected, but not in a good way. Music was annoying. It sounded flat and harsh instead of rich and bassy. I was agitated at the sounds coming out of my bass so I stopped. I tried skimming the internet to pass the time but I found it almost impossible to focus on anything. I couldn't finish reading a whole sentence without forgetting what it was even about. I tried watching some TV, but again, I found it hard to follow any semblance of a plot, so I turned that off as well.
I decided to lay in silence, and that’s when I started really enjoying the trip. Everything was perfectly quiet, and I enjoyed laying motionless for hours, just allowing the waves of warmth to wash over me.

In the morning, I had class, it was the first week of the new semester. I felt sober, but it wasn't until I walked to class that I noticed I wasn't. Time was still passing in a way that I could not predict. Everything was slow. My 1 hour lecture felt like it lasted many hours, and even stranger, the faces of people around me seemed to be out of focus, but just the faces, nothing else. It didn't help that everyone was wearing masks, but I realized I had no way to tell which direction people's heads were facing. It was so strange. I had a whole conversation with a girl from my class afterwards, and now that I am writing this, I don't remember anything that was said.
