To give some background, I'm 18 years old and use Lexapro (Escitalopram) at a dosage of 20 mg daily for depression and Concerta (Methylphenidate ER) 27 mg daily for my ADHD. I also use Cannabis daily. I've tried nicotine and drink alcohol on occasion. Anyway onto my story. My family is staying in Utah, visiting lots of surrounding national parks. Obviously this means a lot of hiking, and we generally like the more difficult trails, so I've been taking 2 puffs of albuterol before most of our hikes. I got 3 hours of sleep last night, and was quite tired and perhaps a bit grumpy, so I chose to double up on my Methylphenidate (tripling up the day before was likely the cause of my sleep deprivation). This led to an extra sedated but energetic effect. Nothing big, but this doubling or tripling up always leads to some standard physical effects of stimulants, a generally more lightheaded feeling than usual, an increased heart rate, and shorter more frequent breaths overall. About an hour after that dosing, I took the 2 puffs of Albuterol to prepare for our journey in Bryce Canyon.

This initial dose had the usual side effect of a tiny bit of light-headedness, but it was hardly noticeable. The hike was gorgeous, but also was somewhat strenuous, which combined with the cold and higher elevation made breathing more difficult. About 2 or so miles into the hike I was having a bit of trouble and so decided to dose again, just another 90 mg. About a half an hour later I took another 90 mg as I was still having some breathing issues. Nothing serious, but still somewhat alarming and quite uncomfortable. At this point I wasn't paying too much attention to the side effects, as my aching lungs and legs were demanding more attention, but in total I had taken 360 mg, as had my mom.

At the 3 mile mark I decided to go with a smaller group up a small but strenuous 1 mile hike, including a quite steep rise in elevation. I was alright until we were on our way back down the trail. We had hiked for at least 5 miles at this point and my lungs were a bit worse for wear to say the least, with a very steep incline awaiting us at the end. Thus, I decided to take two more puffs, bringing my total dose to 540mg.

Side effects were immediately noticeable. I immediately started to feel light-headed. I felt no sense of elevation whatsoever. I also was beginning to feel somewhat disoriented, but my attention was momentarily diverted away from the side effects as I concentrated on the rest of the hike, which ended up being about 8 miles. At this point, every mg of the drug was still in my system, and magnified the pain I was experiencing in my lungs and legs while maintaining my energy.

Once we got back to the top of the canyon, I immediately felt disoriented, and my sense of gravity was somewhat distorted. When I sat back down in the car, the effects of my high dosage rapidly escalated. Lightheadedness progressed into full on dizziness and my vision became more and more choppy. I felt on the verge of passing out constantly, and I felt very oxygen deprived.

Eventually when my family and our friends met at a restaurant, I was starting to "come down" physically but was still lightheaded. Socially I was quite loud and talkative, which was likely helped by the Methylphenidate. My resting heart rate, measured by my mom, was 120 BPM. This was from the diminishing effects of 540mg of Albuterol.

At the time of writing, it's been about 4 hours since my last dose. My resting heart rate has remained elevated at 124 BPM, and I have some very slight mental impairment with things like simple multiplication problems (which I used for this report) and (more noticeably) short term memory. I am still fairly jittery and seem to be feeling a combination of the Methylphenidate running its course and the last of the Albuterol working its way out of my system. I have had a slight unquenchable thirst for about an hour or so. Appetite has also dramatically diminished.
