I was unsure of what to expect, but because this friend has been my primary introduction to recreational drugs, I expected some recreationally-relevant effects. I popped the tablet as normal, while my friend bit into it, and grimaced for about two minutes straight at the taste. I have been diagnosed with depression for some time, and it strongly affects my daily functioning, but I have refused to take medication for my condition. Despite this medication hesitancy, I felt that the bupropion may be a useful test of the effects of antidepressants. Because of the poor recommendation from my friend, and the knowledge that some antidepressants took weeks to have an effect, I expected no noticeable effect, at most some sulbutiamine-like clarity of mind. I went home about an hour-and-a-half later having felt no effect.
At home, all I did for about another hour was scroll through social media with some music on in the background. I found myself after that time subtly tapping along to the music, and moving my body to the rhythm. This is unusual for me. I was happy. I thought, "hey, the antidepressant is working!" I sent a message to that effect to my friend.
My mood climbed steadily for thirty minutes, and the music became more enjoyable. I wrote about a chapter of a book I've been working on, and felt amazing. Everything I did was interesting again, and I felt content simply to sit and work, listen to music, and exist. At the peak of this experience, there were waves of euphoria
Everything I did was interesting again, and I felt content simply to sit and work, listen to music, and exist. At the peak of this experience, there were waves of euphoria
I bought an entire bottle of the drug from the aforementioned relative of my friend. I took another dose, albeit at 2:00 PM this time as opposed to 8:00 PM. I had the same feeling of euphoria, enjoyment, contentment, happiness, and even the same reaction to music. But this time, it was not late at night and the time-release nature of the drug made the effects peak around the time I'd taken it the other day. The after-effects were therefore at their midway point or thereabouts as I tried to sleep, and I had incurable insomnia the entire night. I laid in my bed and stared at the dark ceiling all night, and did not sleep at any point for any amount of time.
I took another dose yesterday, and experienced the same euphoria, again with mild insomnia, but this time I was able to sleep. I took another today, and felt the same euphoria. It confuses me that I seem to be among the only people who experience this effect. But I'm not complaining. I'm going to ask my psychologist for a script next week.
