I have PoTS (postural tachycardia syndrome, secondary to EDS) and was prescribed midodrine for control of my labile blood pressure. After I was diagnosed with ADHD in Feb 22, I was started slowly on methylphenidate / Concerta XL. Close monitoring of my BP was performed.
After 4 weeks of relative stability; my BP rose uncontrollably resulting in a medical hypertensive crisis. My BP rose to > 180/120. I also had tachycardia, arrhythmias, headache, nausea, sweating and agitation.
This interaction has apparently NOT been documented in the Yellow Card scheme (UK). However, midodrine is a common prescribed drug for PoTS patients, who often use methylphenidate for comorbid ADHD and / or to stay alert.
