It had been an uneventful evening, and I was not especially positive or negative in mood. I’d drunk a lot of wine the previous night, but felt no ill effects from that. I went into this “cold.”

10g of dried matter simmered for 30 minutes in three cups of water, per the vendor’s instructions, and listened to a favorite radio show as I drank all the chartreuse-colored tea down. The taste was bitter, but I enjoy bitter drinks, so I just added another cup of water to the tea. There was no other preparation.

After about 45 minutes, I felt a vague, and exactly pleasant, spaciness not unlike having come up from anesthesia a few hours earlier. This persisted a while and, after about an hour and a half, I wanted to go bed. It was around then, some time after the 90 minute mark, that things went south pretty hard:

Rapid bloating and gas, explosive diarrhea, projectile vomiting - really, some of the worst retching I’ve experienced. I couldn’t move in my bed without throwing up into the pan at my bedside, and I had to keep returning to the bathroom. Maybe it was around the two, two and a half hour mark that the muscle soreness began to set in, starting with my calves.

I eventually fell asleep, fitfully, and when I woke, my whole body was stiff and sore, from my fingertips to the soles of my feet. Activity, motion and a hot shower helped.

I think I heard sounds with a little more detail, like an increased awareness of positioning in a room, but it was subtle, and there was nothing psychoactive beyond that. I don’t know if I’d have had a better experience if I’d brewed it in the sun for a few days, or if that’s just so much hokum, but I have no interest in trying it again.
