It was on this night that I decided to get higher than I ever have been. This night was a perfect night, no stress from my academics as I was on fall break and no one around to influence my mood as all of my suitemates went home for the previously mentioned break; being alone is how I prefer to get high. I find that toking in solitude leads to more “enlightening” experiences.

I prepared myself and began to hit some dabs. What followed was something that I can only describe as spiritual. For context, I am a naturalistic atheist; there is no other word I can think of that would fully encapsulate the experience I had that night.

I was listening to some music and simply “vibing” when I began to notice something peculiar: I began to pick up on the fact that the music had color. It was something I was visualizing not as a hallucination but with my mind’s eye. I noticed that each song possessed a series of colors that would pulsate in my head. The first song I was listening to possessed the alternating colors of purple, green, and red. Other songs had various other color combinations. They appeared as chromatic manifestations, circles of technicolor light that pulsed in my field of vision. This entertained me when it first began to manifest, after which came the philosophical and spiritual implications of this occurrence. I recognized this phenomenon as synesthesia, and it showed me that everything is interconnected; everything in existence is connected to one another one way or the other. My entertainment transformed from a gay giddiness to a encapsulating awesome feeling. Everything is connected, and I will never forget this feeling.
