Early in the year, I ordered a large amount of woodrose, mimosa hostilis, and syrian rue. I planned to make ayahuasca out of the rue and hostilis, and did so with great success. I had also been taking woodrose all winter. My experiences with woodrose were mixed. I had a number of good trips, and one terrible one, after which I forswore the stuff. I had begun the ayahuasca trips at this point too. That trip, in summary, was as so:
t: 0:00 --After a long workout, and then eating a greasy McDonalds meal, I haphazardly scraped off the skin of approximately 12 seeds, and ate the little fiends, and drove home.
t: 1:00 --the effects were coming on, and I stopped the car to get out and stare at the stars. Music was good. Though it was far to cold outside to stay there, so I finished my drive home.
t: 2:00 --There was an hour of good sensations, though with a mild feeling of dehydration. I made up some tea to help calm my slightly nauseated stomach.
t: 2:30 -- Well, my body went into a full overload. I had an intensely stuffed nose. There was no mucus, but rather is was further back in the nostrils, and seemingly (to me at the time) it felt like my entire skull was being filled with some solid substance, presumably mucus. I became intensely nauseous, though I could not puke at all. I made more tea, then realized that it might be dehydrating me more (which I had been attributing the problem to) and started drinking water. To no avail. I had intense intestinal cramps. I was fully tripping throughout the experience, which did not help both my self-treatment and mental state at the time. I'm not sure how long the pain lasted, but at least a few hours. I think, in retrospect, that my internal peristalsis was halted. The pain subsided when I could fart again, and the intense pressure was relieved slowly and surely with a series of good farts. I was relieved to say the least. The terrible effects on my body made the mental effects of the trip nigh horrendous, and I was emotionally drained for the weekend.
Another trip: This time, in the summer, I was bored, and found in my illicit knapsack the remnants of my ayahuasca syrian rue and a pill jar full of other remaining woodrose seeds. I scraped (in retrospect, poorly) about 15-18 (I cannot remember how many) seeds, and sucked them down with a concoction with about 1.5 grams of crushed up rue. To preface this: this was the very worst experience of my life.
I became delirious sometime after about three hours into the trip, so I will not bother with time notations. Safe to say, the buzz came around an hour or more after ingestion (the rue buzz had set in earlier). At about two hours in, when the seeds usually take good effect on me, I knew I was in for the hellish experience again. Instantly, I knew I needed these little bastards out of my stomach. Could not puke them (as I had not eaten in preparation). I began religiously drinking water to give a vehicle for regurgitation. During this time the same symptoms of the other trip set in, except in far greater intensity. My skull was painfully full of some terrible substance, my nose was stuffed beyond an explanation, my ears were stuffed, and my intestines hurt terribly.
Also, at the same time, I was tripping hard. Swimming visuals, wild mental conclusions, and total loss of ego and the openness with existence and the Isness of my life and the world. This is normally a wonderful, nearly mystical experience. But my body was poisoned, it became Huxley's hell.

Eventually, I drank so much water that my stomach forced it out (hours into the trip). I think nearly a gallon. Slowly, slowly, I began to recover. I was, at this time, considering calling poison control, but I could not stand the idea of my family finding out about my terrible stupidity, and convinced myself that the body is a hardy thing, and I weathered something similar to this before. By the end of the trip, nearly eight -12 hours later, I fell asleep, having spent the last few hours in a completely helpless, weak, distraught, fetal state. I was emotionally destroyed for days.
I did come to some interesting mental conclusions that night, as one can with hallucinogens that let you explore your subconscious, but I would not suggest that woodrose be the vehicle of choice.
Peace. Be safe.
