Lose Dose Nausea
Diazepam
Citation:   bengt. "Lose Dose Nausea: An Experience with Diazepam (exp60572)". Erowid.org. Sep 18, 2019. erowid.org/exp/60572

DOSE:
2 mg oral Pharms - Diazepam (pill / tablet)
BODY WEIGHT: 160 lb
My mother has a prescription for 2mg generic Valium for what she believes to be oromandibular dystonia as well as 5mg for flight anxiety. She discontinued regular use of the former (for which I noticed no improvement), and since both have been gathering dust I figured she wouldn't notice if I took one of each in the name of science.

I decided to start with the 2mg to see if I had any sort of adverse reaction. The only other benzo I've tried recreationally is Alprazolam, and I more or less expected a comparable experience with the Diazepam.

I took the pill around midnight while finishing up some work on the computer. After five minutes, I noticed an alert of sedation (that sounds like an oxymoron) that increased until the 15 minute mark and then tapered for about 10 minutes. During this time I felt relatively sober although I found myself more relaxed and prone to staring into space. I'd like to note that the sedating effects were completely mental and I had no physical effects at this point. After a half hour total, the effects seemed to wane and I attempted to work on a song arrangement to no avail. It felt like the creative part of my brain was turned off. Overall, no biggie, I didn't expect Valium to be my muse or to really get any effects at all off so low a dose.

I decided to call it a night and went to bed. At this point I was experiencing some mild GI nausea. I attempted to read a novel, and again I felt like I couldn't concentrate enough to retain a full sentence. Surprisingly, I didn't feel much like sleeping, and I watched TV until 3am which is the normal time I go to sleep.

Now here's where it gets kind of weird: I felt fully conscious/sober/awake while lying in bed at 3am. The next thing I know, I suddenly 'wake up' (for lack of a better term) to very uncomfortable nausea and a feeling like I don't know how I got where I am. I look over at my clock and it reads 4:30am, although I don't know where that hour and a half went. It must have been a true and honest blackout, because I felt like I had been awake the whole time and that hour and a half was only a second in my mind. What was more uncomfortable though was the GI nausea I was experiencing, and I spent the next half hour just waiting to vomit, although I fell asleep again before I did.

I woke up again around noon, feeling fine and as normal as any other day. I feel like I don't really remember last night's events as if they had been only 12 hours earlier, and I am pretty perplexed at the blackout/nausea experience. Overall, the fleeting sedative feeling wasn't enough to warrant any further interest. The 5mg tablet will be going back to its bottle.
