More Fog Than Fun
Buprenorphine
Citation:   epiphanyme. "More Fog Than Fun: An Experience with Buprenorphine (exp65201)". Erowid.org. May 31, 2019. erowid.org/exp/65201

DOSE:
2 mg   Pharms - Buprenorphine
BODY WEIGHT: 115 lb
I was prescribed Subutex (the other form, buprenorphine without naloxone) when I unwittingly went into opiate withdrawal after almost a year of steadily increasing vicodin/norco use - some for legitimate pain, most not. I ran out of norco and planned to 'take a break' (since I had no choice at the time), but was completely unprepared for the withdrawal

that hit me on the second day - chills, sweats, diarrhea, uncontrollable crying, nausea/vomiting, leg cramps, etc. I tried to stick it out because I kept thinking it would end soon, but by the fourth day I was so miserable that I called my doctor, who told me I was almost out of the woods but to ease the rest of the process prescribed 2mg Subutex (not Suboxone as I'm not an injection risk) once a day, cut down to half when I felt like it.

Within an hour of taking the first dose, I felt a thousand times better - my appetite returned with a vengeance after not being able to eat a thing for 4 days, I didn't puke up anything I ate, I was able to sleep - and I began to believe I might not lose my mind after all. Within 2 days I felt completely normal. It's quite a buzz for me the first 10-12 hours (my illicit intake wasn't hugely excessive), but more fog than fun - it actually feels exactly like too much GHB, which I've experienced on several occasions.

I can only imagine the hell that is withdrawal from a serious opiate addiction - mine was more like heavy dabbling.
