First, some background. I am 29 yrs. old, about 250 pounds, and have experimented with numerous substances over the last 8 years. My wife is 33 yrs. old, about 135 pounds, and has also widely experimented over the last 12 years. However, we are now committed to only naturally occurring substances in their relative natural state, and alcohol. We are both connoisseurs of fine cannabis, and are usually avid smokers. Although, for the past 9 months have only been able to partake a dozen times (which has interestingly significantly increased our alcohol consumption). Hence the recent motivation to finally test out the spiritual capabilities of Blue Lotus. I was very open to this new experience, but my wife was a bit more skeptical.
The following experiences take place over the period of 9 days.
#1: The day we received our dried flowers in the mail. About 10pm, after work, while sitting in our living room, over a period of 30 minutes, while watching a documentary about 3 soon-to-be Buddhist monks traveling across Nepal by a method of taking 3 steps, then sliding onto their stomachs and stretching out their bodies, then standing up and taking 3 more steps (they traveled like this for a few months). So, we took out our bubbler/water pipe, eyed out a gram, and packed a bowl. Smoke, inhale, exhale, pass, and repacked the bowl about 5 times. This was probably our most positive experience with Blue Lotus. Nothing extremely noticeable, but colors and images were more vivid. Kind of like a very very mellow MJ buzz. But we kept asking each other if we 'felt anything' and couldn't answer 'yes' with exact certainty. About 20 minutes after the last bowl, I began to get tired my eyes felt very tired. In bed by 11:30, which is unusual, especially on a Friday night. (Note: the pipe had been used for MJ, so the presence of resin could account for any effects).
#2: This experience was 3 days later. After coming home from a few hours of drinking, we packed up a couple bowls. I wouldn't say I was DRUNK, but on the verge and definitely feeling good. Well, smoking was the last thing I remembered. A few hours later I woke up on the couch and my wife was in bed. So I made my way to the bed and passed out right away.
#3: 2 days later, we had the day off of work. So we packed and smoked 4 bowls. Then we eye-balled 8-10 grams of petals and made a tea. On a low boil, the petals seeped in water for 30 minutes. Added some honey. Drank. I just drank the tea, but my wife drank the tea and the flowers. No affects what so ever- from the smoke or the tea.
#4: This experience occurs 9 days after the 1st experience. But preparation occurred on day 1. So, the day we received the petals, I eye-balled over 1/3 of the 2oz., which I'd say was about 20 grams. I added the petals to 1/2 a bottle of a California Red Wine (11% ABV). Let it sit in a dark cupboard for 9 days.
Saturday, late afternoon, we took a little walk up a small mountain behind our apt., and sat on a rock outcrop that overlooks our dong (that's Korean for Hood). We shared the whole bottle of Blue Lotus Red Wine- 2 decent sized glasses each. After the 1st glass, which we drank quickly, I felt a slight buzz and the world seemed to be OK. But I am going to say, I think it was the wine. My wife reported no effects. We finished the wine. Sat on the rocks for about an hour or so. Walked back home and decided to just start drinking regular, good ol' fashioned alchy-hol. Nothing note-worthy to report.
Overall, our experiences weren't anything special. I feel that if we smoked some paper, we might get similar effects. I definitely would not buy the petals again. At least not to consume, but maybe as a decorative.
