Eyeball on the Gram
MDMA

BODY WEIGHT: 120 lb
I am a fan of careful measuring of material, to be sure, but I decided to do an experiment in 'eyeballing' doses of MDMA. It used to be that when I got a gram of MDMA, before I had access to a digital scale, I would typically set our eight capsules in a row, and fill them all up with the gram, comparing them to one another until I felt confident that they all had pretty much the same amount of material in them, or '125 mg'. When I got more conservative in my dosing, after deciding that I could have a fine experience from 100 mg with less negative aftereffects, I would do use this same method with 10 capsules (yielding '100 mg' doses).

Of course, in retrospect, I didn't know if those 'grams' I was getting were generous grams or not. I never measured them.

I decided to try the same eyeballing procedure and then weigh the capsules to see how close I got. This time I laid out nine capsules, and filled them all up with the 'same' amount of powder, except for two capsules, which I made light and heavy. My target was seven capsules with roughly the same mass, plus one slightly lighter and one slightly heavier. If all went as planned, the seven capsules would be close to 113 mg, one would be slightly heavier than 113 mg, and one would be slightly lighter than 113 mg.

First I weighed several empty capsules and came up with an average capsule mass of 94 mg. Rather than use the tare function on the scale, I weighed each filled capsule and subtracted the mass of an empty capsule (94 mg). Here are the results of the masses of MDMA:

The capsule I intended to make a lighter dose: 99 mg
The capsule I intended to make a heavier dose: 123 mg
The seven capsules I meant to be the same mass:
#1: 104 mg
#2: 110 mg
#3: 115 mg
#4: 116 mg
#5: 116 mg
#6: 116 mg
#7: 118 mg

So six of those seven capsules were within 5 mg of the 113 mg target mass. For MDMA, I think this is an acceptable range of difference in dose. I forgot to measure the bag of MDMA *before* I split it up into the capsules, but the total mass of the 'gram' after capsuling weighed out at 1017 mg, which is great. Yay for reliable suppliers.

If I did this experiment with 2C-B and aimed for 5 mg, 10 mg, or 20 mg doses, I wonder what the results would be.
