My friend of a few years now has mild ADD. However, for reasons I cannot remember, in 5th or 6th grade when first prescribed it, he repeatedly said his dose was too low, so he is now on the unusually high daily dosage of 70mg. Over the past few weeks, I have been borrowing this amount and splitting it with a friend once or twice a week. This results in insufflating between 20mg and 50mg, with my highest dose being all 70.

Now as most other experiences have said, this drug is not “fun” in the usual sense. I usually notice feeling relatively normal, with increased heart rate, reduced need/desire to breathe, and the ability to stare for longer periods of time, much the same as a high dose of caffeine.

The main reason both me and my friends are relatively hooked on Ritalin is that while high, we have had some of the most deep, meaningful, and fulfilling conversations of our lives. While most people report of being somewhat of a chatterbox on the side, this is the principal reason I take Ritalin. There is always something to talk about, we are completely uninhibited by what we say, and have an amazing amount of optimism about everything.

Using it relatively weekly, no noticeable tolerance has developed, and the standard 30mg dose usually lasts from 2-5 hours, causing total insomnia if taken late. However, if one wants to burn a Saturday, or really wants to talk to a friend about something but doesn’t know how to begin, this is a lifesaver.
