DOSE:
2 bowls smoked Lotus/Lily - Nymphaea nouchali var caerulea (dried)
BODY WEIGHT: 155 lb
I've taken Blue Lotus many times but the experience I had yesterday was by far the most rewarding experience.

I'd ordered 2 oz. of flowers and some tincture from an online store out of curiosity a few months ago. The first thing I tried was making a tea out of roughly 5 grams of the flowers, then eating the flowers. This had practically no effect besides making me paranoid. I would smoke it from time to time when walking around with my friends (when they were smoking cigarettes), or put about 7 dropperfulls of the tincture into small cups of water when I was bored, but with very little effect besides a mild buzz.

Then, yesterday, I was bored once again and decided to smoke a couple of bowls of it. This time, however, I put on some nice, calm music (mainly jazzy techno stuff) and turned on the visualizer to watch while I smoked it. For a minute or two, there was nothing but light-headedness from smoking (since I'm a non-smoker). Then, things seemed to change when a song called 'Paradiso' by Yoko Kanno (Japanese composer) came on. The music sounded inexplicably beautiful. I stared at the twisting, colorful patterns of the visualizer and felt as if I was rising and falling with the soft sounds of the trumpet. I felt happiness rising up inside me and broke out in a grin.

This was the first time I'd really felt much of an effect from the stuff, so I did what I normally do after consuming mind-altering substances and tried to brainstorm different story and plot ideas (I'm a writer). However, I found the Blue Lotus did not stimulate thought at all. Rather I just felt a sort of dumb happiness. I didn't want to think about anything.

Giving up, I laid down on my bed while continuing to listen to calming music, still smiling. The bed felt great. I rolled around a little bit and laughed. I looked at the clock and realized that I had watched the visualizer for half an hour.

After a few minutes, I got up and took a shower (I was going over to my friends house in a little bit). For some reason I had a strong urge to clean myself much more thoroughly as normal. I washed my hair two or three times, covered myself in two different types of body wash, and stood in there for about half an hour scrubbing myself and smiling. When I closed my eyes for somewhat longer intervals I could see much dimmer versions of the equalizer patterns spinning and twisting. Not really visuals, just more pronounced versions of the normal shapes and lights I percieve with my eyes closed.

After I got out of the shower I got dressed (much more carefully than normal, I had very strong desire to look good and impress the opposite sex). I looked a lot better than I normally do going out. I drove over to my friends house and was extremely sociable, still feeling the buzz of mild euphoria until around 10:00 that night (I'd smoked the lotus at around 6:30). Afterwards I felt quite tired and needed a lot of caffiene to sustain me for the rest of the night.

All in all, it was extremely enjoyable, but this kind of experience is not the norm with blue lotus. This has only happened once out of the 10+ times I've taken it. It's quite unreliable.
