The leaves can be used as a stimulant, spiritual ally, and health aid simultaneously; I have chewed the sacred leaf for all of these occasions. While under the trance of differing entheogens – Peruvian Torch, DXM, morning glory – coca helps with nausea and general bodily funkiness, while granting a certain lucidity and strength that is well needed during these all-night vigils.

I obtained llipta, alkaline plant ash from Peru, which I chew with the coca to activate the alkaloids. One’s mouth grows numb which feels a bit nice as the coca infusion seeps into one’s veins…

I have only tried cocaine once, and it isn’t in the same league as coca… It felt nice enough, but its effects felt a bit poisonous, as synthetics often do. And the more plants I am immersed in, the less interest I have in chemical synthetics…

Oh, and coca is SUPERB for long, steep hikes, which I often do here in the Pacific Northwest. Sometimes I bring only minimal food if it’s a day hike. Knock on the door and the plant healers will answer. Coca is the shamanic plant par excellence.
