I had a very interesting experience with the antidepressant Bupropion, otherwise known as Wellbutrin: It completely blocked the effects of marijuana for me.

My usual experience with cannabis is that, even in small amounts, it makes me extraordinarily high with unusual prophetic-spiritual overtones. My method of getting high is orally consuming the marijuana, because I have asthma.

Upon being on Bupropion for about a month, however, I noticed that when I ingested copious amounts of marijuana I did not get high at all. I felt almost nothing. There was no mental high, no body high, and no sense of being outside myself.

I would have written this effect off if it had happened only once, but on more than one occasion, I consumed about 3 times more than I needed to completely lose myself in a high. I felt nothing. (Yes, it was a BIG disappointment.)

I decided to do a little experiment, because of this. I decided to stop taking the Bupropion for a full 24 hours to get it out of my system, and then ingest weed. And what happened? I got amazingly high. :)

Through trial an error, I have discovered that with my particular neurochemistry, Bupropion with near complete effectiveness blocks the high-making effects of marijuana.

Needless to say I stopped taking the Bupropion. :)
