Darvon for Subutex/Suboxone Withdrawal

A bit of background...I've been on subutex for a year now to treat my opiate addiction. Before I found the bupe, life was empty and pointless. Although this drug has helped me a lot, I am now just as addicted to the subutex as I was opiates!

Last night I scored 14 darvon 65mg pills (pure propoxyphene, no OTC junk, ie, APAP) and took two of them instead of my evening subutex dose. For such a weak opiate, it really helped! I actually felt a bit high! So this morning when I woke up I took the other 12, totaling 780mg, which sounds like a lot but really isn't for my tolerance...if my calculations are correct, each 65mg pill is equi-potent to 50mg of codeine, which is equal to 7.5mg of morphine, so the total dose was around 90mg of morphine, in comparison.

In any case, it's been around an hour and a half since I took the pills, and it has totally taken my morning withdrawals away, it even made me feel high for a while! I have heard that this stuff has an extremely long lasting active metabolite, so hopefully it will keep me good all day. I have also heard of other people using propoxyphene for buprenorphine withdrawal.

When I first take darvon, I feel very light and happy, then gradually the initial 'rush', if you will, fades and leaves me feeling quite content. For such a weak opiate, I am surprised at its potential. I think I could use this drug as an aid to stopping the subutex effectively, as bupe has a VERY long half life, so in consequence the withdrawal lasts a LONG TIME. Coming off heroin, after 3 days I am okay...coming off bupe; it takes 3 days for full blown w/d to start!

WARNING: The dose I took is about twice the recommended daily amount and would most likely kill an opiate naive person. Since this drug has a very, very long acting active metabolite, it can easily build up in the blood and stop a person's breathing.
