I was never prescribed Adderall during college, but at a very competitive university, I usually used Adderall during the couple weeks of midterms and finals. I was always a good student and took good notes, attended all my classes, etc. - but the Adderall really helped to crank out those long hours and maintain my focus for extended periods of time. Sounds like every article one reads about academic steroids, but hey, I guess there's some reason for that!

Whenever I took Adderall, I was usually drinking coffee and would sometimes find myself very jittery. At first, I would crank out some great reading or note-taking, but later, I would find myself distracted by the side effects of the Adderall. My legs would be shaking like crazy, I'd be biting the skin on my lip, I'd be very fidgety with my non-writing hand, racing back and forth to the bathroom, etc...just anxious and fidgety like with any stimulant. I always opted to take it anyway because it really helped during the madness of exams, even if I had to deal with the jitters or whatever. Still did the trick and helped me finish up what I had to do.

I ended up trying Kava separately, just in tea bags, and was surprised by how a tea advertised as 'relaxing' actually relaxed me. I found myself drinking it before bed at night, with just a bag or two, and it helped to give me some clarity and relaxation...just felt good. Weed was giving me anxiety at that time and it was a great way to end the night.

Finally, I ended up combining the two...and it was a PERFECT yin and yang. I bought Kava in pill form and usually took an XR and a 250mg Kava at the same time, and then used one or two more throughout the day along with 5mg of immediate release Adderall as both lost strength. The Adderall increased my concentration and energy, and the Kava increased my mental clarity while dealing with all the physical maladies of the Adderall. This is really great if I gotta crank something out and work for an extended period of time...keeps that IDEAL train of thought/concentration/energy combination running.
