Suboxone vs Methadone

About 6 years ago I began having shoulder problems. Long story short, my doctor referred me to a pain management doc. She put me on methadone (180, 10 mgs a month). I fell in love with them and of course started abusing them. I was called in for a pill count and was short, therefore kicked out.

After 3.5 years at the methadone clinic, I had had enough. I was so sick of going there, the drug testing on camera etc. On 12/14/09, I took my last methadone. I took nothing for 4 days and switched to suboxone.

It is like going from drinking a 5th of vodka a day to a half a beer a day. It is truly a different life. Once a month to the doctor. My doctor is very well specialized on suboxone. He says that a long time opiate user's brain stops making the body's natural opiates. It takes 10-12 months, that suboxone needs to be taken for app 10-12 months before tapering off.
