I took 1500 mg of GABA on an empty stomach. I had taken some diazepam (10 mg) earlier in the day and was feeling very tired during this day. I was hoping the GABA would help calm me.

Within 20 minutes of taking the GABA I experienced hot flushes over my body. I also experienced 'difficulty' breathing, which seemed to be mostly slowing of breathing. These symptoms were disturbing to the point that I thought I was going to have to go to a hospital. However, within 10 - 15 minutes, the symptoms stopped. I took 15 mg of diazepam because the reaction to GABA made me very anxious for a short time. About 30-40 mins after taking the GABA, and soon after taking the diazepam, I became VERY relaxed. I had a slightly drunken feeling. I lay down for about 30 minutes in a very relaxed state. Fairly quickly, I returned to feeling as I had earlier.

On another occasion I took 750 mg of GABA on an empty stomach. I had very minor flushes and tingling across areas of skin. I felt a bit tranquil for a while and returned to normal.

I took the GABA at a time at which I was experiencing a lot of anxiety. Although it seemed to help, the effects were short-lived. I may try it again in the future. I am certainly glad I started with a relatively small dose, and would have started with an even smaller one if I'd known what the initial effects would be. They did pass fairly quickly, but so it seems did the tranquility.
