A Terrible Combination

I drink caffeine almost daily and smoke weed at least once a week. I have smoked for about two years and in that entire time nothing has ever happened to me like this.

That day I had work at 9 in the morning. I didn't get much sleep the night before so on the way I stopped and bought one of those 5 hour energy shots. I was hyper but it was nothing worth talking about. The only reason this is worth mentioning is because I think that this tipped it over the edge.

Then at about 5 I went to go hang out with my boyfriend who surprised me with a blunt full of purple kush. We were going to the zoo that night to see all the holiday decoration and wanted to enhance the experience. However, I was still really tired. So I suggested that we split a can of Monster to keep me awake. I think it is important to know that none of this is out of the ordinary. Every time I smoke, its kush and if I'm too tired I'll buy an energy drink to go along with it. That's why I think it was the energy shot that messed things up because I never drink those.

At about 7:30 that night we lit up the blunt and headed to the zoo. Normally, I'll start to feel high halfway through or a little later. But it always hits me while I'm still smoking. This time though I wasn't feeling anything. My boyfriend said he was already really high so I suggested we just put it out. When we got to the zoo, everything hit me. I was digging through my purse to find my gloves and it felt extremely weird. Looking back now, I can't think of how exactly it was weird. The best way I can think of is everything felt new. I had no idea what I was touching. Then we started walking in. Everything felt wrong. My feet were way too big for their skin. I thought they were going to burst out. My heart was beating ten times faster than usual and I could hear it. The only reason I know this wasn't all in my head was because my boyfriend felt my chest after I said this and said that it was beating really fast. my lungs felt tight and I had to take really deep breaths. My head was spinning. I was biting down on my tongue and clenching my jaw a lot. The strangest thing was my motion. All my movements were very choppy and weird. I felt as though I was moving like how you see someone move under a strobe light. I wish I had the words to adequately describe this. I feel like I'm really understating how I felt but this is the best I can do.

All the lights were freaking me out. I was so scared. Everyone there knew we were high. My head started to spin more and everything around me was spinning. Because of all the colored lights, this was making me dizzy. I felt drunk. I felt like I was talking incoherently but my boyfriend says my speech was fine. I felt like I might pass out. We went inside one of the restaurants to get some water and something to eat hoping that it would help. I thought I might have just been dehydrated because I started feeling better after the water.

However, when I finished I walked towards a bathroom to go put some eye drops in so my eyes wouldn't be so red (I was also unusually paranoid. I normally proudly display my red eyes and don't care who saw but this time for some reason I was freaking out about everyone knowing I was high). On the way to the bathroom everything came back. I looked in the mirror and my pupils were the smallest I had ever seen them. I thought there must have been something wrong with the weed. I tried to asking my boyfriend if he was okay without getting him freaked out that something was wrong with me. He said he was absolutely fine. That's the other reason I think it was that energy shot since he smoked the same weed and drank the same Monster.

I said that I had to leave. I think I said I was too cold to walk around more but I can't remember. We went back to his house. For about an hour everything continued. I was under two blankets and for some reason I was shivering like crazy. I kept filling up my water bottle and I probably drank 4 liters of water alone that night.

When I got home after 12 that night I was still faintly feeling the strobe light thing and the jaw clenching. I was high well into the night. Normally my high is gone after about 3 hours.

This is the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. I still remember it vividly. I thought I was going to have a heart attack or something. I have never felt that way before or since.

I have sworn off those energy shot completely and I am never drinking caffeine when I smoke.
