So I've been a long time reader of trip reports, and a long time psychedelic traveler, enjoying a wide variety of substances, but have never written one myself until now.

7:00pm:

I arrived home from work where I had been drinking grapefruit juice all day and promptly consumed 1 bottle of Zicam cough max spray, (6mg/.25ml for a total of 390mg), and began the wait. Effects for DXM always begin for me at about the 1hr mark, at which point I ALWAYS think its not going to work...until it finally kicks on full force about 45 minutes later.

8:30pm:

As per the usual the drug had finally taken full effect and I was a comfortable mid 2nd plateau dose, which is what I had decided would be a good place from which to try mixing in the DMT. I had done an acid based extraction of the DMT some 2 months prior to this and had sampled it the previous weekend to make sure it was still active, (which it was...and probably the best DMT I have ever produced). I decided to wait until after the DXM had peaked to try the mix.

10:00pm:

As usual I spent a couple hours lost in beautifully delusional DXM headspace where every thought seems profound and words take on their more abstract, conceptual meanings. This is great for me since the songs and poetry I write can be contributed to greatly by this raw feeling, almost primal use of language. Anyway, I loaded my DMT onto the steel wool in my mini-bong, got 'breathing place' by Vibrasphere, (ambient electronica) ready to play on my ipod and inhaled as hard as I could, initially heating the outside of the bowl only. I breathed this out and inhaled again, this time hitting it the way you would weed, directly applying the flame where the DMT was placed. This produced a large amount of smoke and I pulled the bowl out and drew it all in. I returned the bowl, clicked play on the ipod and lay down on my bed in my room (which was dark but still light enough that I could see the room). I held the hit in for a good 10 to 15 seconds and felt myself exhale, knowing that I'd gotten a good dose.

The experience:

I will recall as best I can. I felt a rapidly onset bodily heaviness and a rushing sensation in my head that was associated with a warm, blissful sensation. I felt as though I was flying incredibly fast as if through another dimension where physically I remained in one place but where objects, ideas, colors, identities and everything we know of as reality was not fixed at all. They, in very complex and intricate ways constantly changed their roles in the grand pattern that is reality and I perceived this as something of an impossible geometric visual that it felt like I was zooming through at a very high speed. There were certain patterns that would repeatedly speak single words in time with the music, which I intrinsically understood without knowing how or why. I realized I had my eyes closed so I opened them and saw my room through this Awe inspiring filter. I marveled at my room as I felt the effects of the drug begin to subside. Slowly my room reshaped and faded itself back into its usual, recognizable state and I felt the heaviness fade as well. I sat up, and although I could still definitely feel the DMT still, it felt like DXM again with actual psychedelic visuals. The whole trip lasted about 10 minutes with about 10 minutes of after effect visuals. I felt as though I had dissolved into the greater reality for that brief amount of time (where the 'self' doesn't exist), and had a strong sense of rebirth. I also felt that compared the the wild ride I had just taken, the DXM state I came back to felt ordinary and almost sober.

All in all it was an amazing combination that left me with many revelations to explore further, which I in fact did 2 more times that same night after waiting about an hour to ensure the DMT would take effect. I feel like the DXM state of mind didn't come into play DURING the DMT trip, but rather acted as a launch pad from which a truly powerful, ego dissolving DMT trip could be attained MUCH more easily than with DMT alone. The only downside was feeling like I was sober after I came down from the DMT, which I certainly wasn't with almost 5mg/kg of DXM in my system.

Someone maybe shouldn't try this combo unless they've tried both drugs on their own and have at least had an upper 2nd or a 3rd plateau experience on DXM.
