A couple months ago, a friend gave me a 150mg oral dose of methylone, and I found it pleasant enough that I ordered some for myself for further experimentation. I got it during the week, and it may have been a little irresponsible to experiment on a work night, but I was eager to give it another go. I started off with another 150mg oral dose, at about 5 that evening.
0:25-0:30 Starting to feel it coming on. I can feel my heart rate increase slightly, and I feel some excitement and euphoria creeping in.
1:00 It is a bit MDMA-like in that I am feeling extreme mood lift and euphoria. I am by myself, and although I recognize that it would be nice to be doing this with a friend, I do not feel saddened that I am alone the way I have felt the couple times I took MDMA alone. Tactile senses and appreciation of music are increased, but not to the same extent as with MDMA. I feel really good, but not quite the mind-blowing feeling of 'I've never really been alive until just now!' that I get from MDMA. Some mild jaw tension is present, but no eye wiggles. I had planned on taking a 100mg boost at the one hour mark, and I decided that it sounded like a good idea, so I went ahead and insufflated 50mg up each nostril. There was very little burning, and the drip was slightly bitter, but not too bad at all.
1:30 I'm still feeling really good, but I am not certain that the second dose did much to increase the intensity of the experience, except that the tension in my jaw is a bit worse now.
I stayed in a very relaxed energetic state for the next couple hours. Although I felt stimulated, I was satisfied laying around listening to music and such. At about the 3 hour mark, I felt an urge to redose, but I knew that would be a bad idea since it was around 8 at night, and I had to work in the morning, plus I have read many reports where people suggested that dosing more than twice is pretty worthless, so it wasn't terribly hard to resist the urge.
4:00-ish I feel the effects wearing off. There is little euphoria present anymore, but I'm still mildly stimulated. Jaw tension is still present.
5:00 The effects are mostly completely gone. I got in bed with my laptop at about 10 that night and watched a few episodes of Dexter. I'm definitely down from my high, but I don't feel unpleasant the way I do when coming down from MDMA or cocaine. I still feel like it might be fun to dose one more time, but I easily push that notion aside.
I still feel like it might be fun to dose one more time, but I easily push that notion aside.
I laid down to try to sleep at 12, about 7 hours after my first dose and 6 hours after my second dose. I found it practically impossible to sleep that night, but it wasn't the same type of insomnia I have experienced from coke, MDMA, meth, or mephedrone. When coming down from those substances, I am a little depressed and anxious, and very annoyed that I am unable to sleep. I found the insomnia from methylone to be more like the insomnia I get from larg-ish doses of opiates, where I'm unable to sleep, but I'm still feeling nice and I'm somehow at peace with being unable to sleep.
I think I may have slept for a couple hours or so, and I was surprised by how cracked out I felt in the morning. I wasn't feeling anxious or dysphoric at all, just really spaced out. I may have had some slight paranoia, because I was worried that my coworkers might notice something was up with me. I'm not sure why I was worried about this, because I keep my drug experimentation completely separate from my work life, and nobody there knows that I do any of this, so if I seemed a little off, nobody would instantly assume that I was hung over from something. Still, when I got to school and was chatting with my coworkers while we waited for our students to arrive, I went ahead and casually mentioned that I have been battling spring allergies lately and was feeling a bit run down, just to cover my bases.
When I got up to get ready for work, I did not feel nauseated or sick to my stomach at all, but I didn't have much desire to eat, so I skipped breakfast, and I decided later I should have gone ahead and eaten something anyway. I felt really spacey and sluggish and generally zoned out all morning, but after a little food and caffeine at lunch time, I felt much better. In the afternoon after lunch, I actually felt a little afterglow and was just generally in a good mood and satisfied with life.
I made it through the rest of the day just fine and in high spirits, but I was definitely feeling the effects of little sleep by the time I got home, and I went to bed pretty early. I felt completely fine with no residual effects the next day after a good night's sleep.
I can't help but compare methylone to MDMA because so many other people have, and my experience was much like that of many others. It had a lot of the positive qualities of MDMA with fewer side effects, but not quite the same magic. I'm not sure if my booster dose did much for the experience, so next time I'll probably try a larger single initial oral dose and see how that goes. The urge to redose is definitely present, but I didn't find it to be overwhelming. Overall, I like it and I'll do it again, but not on a work night. Peace!
