Some friends came over to smoke a couple nights ago, and decided they would make some tea with mushrooms they had brought with them. After drinking their terrible-tasting tea, they offered me some 2C-E; I've been offered before, but I never had enough time set aside to trip out for the amount of time it supposedly lasted, which wound up being a good 10-12 hours.
I parachuted the full 20mg of the white powder at around 6:30pm, and we vaped a gram of weed together to mellow us all out before our trips began. I first noticed the effects a good 40 minutes later, I saw some small trails, and my peripheral vision became much broader. We turned the TV to Sealab 2020, and had Spacetime's 'Alien Dreamtime w/ Terence McKenna' album playing over it, as my depth perception began to change: objects seemed to move closer and further away as the effects kicked in stronger.
[Erowid Note: Driving while intoxicated, tripping, or extremely sleep deprived is dangerous and irresponsible because it endangers other people. Don't do it!]
We left the house about an hour after starting, and drove a couple miles to this trailhead alongside a river. Although the sun was already down, I started to see some sort of...artificial lighting, traveling away from myself on the ground in waves. Looking at the trees, their branches started warping and extending themselves to me. Quite literally it seemed like they wanted to hug me. All this was very distracting, and I could feel the effects becoming much more intense. Looking out at the river, the water looked thick, and started to swirl in whirlpools. I looked out at the wind blowing through the grass on the opposite side, and the colors of the flowers started to blend together and melt into one another as the visual trails became more prevalent.
I started cycling though Pink Floyd's 'Piper At The Gates of Dawn' album, when I noticed the music started having a massive reverb effect. I looked into a dark, tree-covered part of the forest, where I saw children running in circles, playing. It turned out to just be bushes blowing. I was feeling pretty nauseous by now, and this thought made me start to gag suddenly, but I managed to hold back vomiting.
We crossed a bridge over the river, which looked endless, and kept stretching out the further we walked on it. On the other side, we reached a muddy, sandy playground. Looking down at my feet, I saw the dirt, and actually believed I was no longer on Earth; that I was on a moon floating out in space. We crossed the playground, and we decided to go to a restaurant and order pizza.
That was a horrible idea, I couldn't imagine the thought of eating anything, and I was tripping pretty hard by now. It had been about 90 minutes since I took the drug. My pupils were completely dilated, everything I saw was warping, and dancing, colors were jumping out at me, and people's faces seemed inhuman as they kept morphing shapes. Everything I heard began to echo. I remember as soon as I walked inside, I had an almost unbearable need to be back out. I felt trapped.
After leaving, we were back in the forest, I had definitely reached the plateau by now, and when I had to walk around a giant pool of water, I stopped. One side of me was an ocean of water, and the other side became an endless abyss. And it felt like I was walking on a tightrope over either side. I looked around, and saw that I looked to be in a hall of mirrors; Multiple versions of myself were looking at me from all angles, and moved with me in perfect synchronization. I snapped out of it and kept walking, across a major highway intersection, where the combination of stoplights and multiple headlights left me in a daze; My mind was no longer attached to this reality as all the lights moved with their trails and stretched out in endless lines.
We quickly dashed across, and made a long trek to another trail, right near an airport. There were dozens of colored lights on the runway, and we heard a plane coming in from overhead. This was the most alien-like thing I've ever experienced, I was in awe as I saw the jet fly meters above my head. As we were walking, I kept checking over my shoulders. I could have sworn that there were people, or some sort of beings following me. Unknown to me, my two friends were talking to three other friends over the phone, and minutes later they showed up for another smoke session.
Sitting in a circle, we had Led Zeppelin IV playing over speakers. I started hearing the music in a sort of reverse-echo before it played, and it started to interfere with the conversations around, so I just sat in awe and silence. The artificial lighting appeared everywhere around me, the ground started turning orange and the weather had become very shitty by this point. It started to rain hard, and there were strong gusts of wind every 10 or 15 seconds.
The three people that showed up started asking me how I was feeling, and what I was seeing around me. This was extremely difficult, as I had to actually describe what was going on in a way they could understand. I told them that lights were falling from the sky, like dozens of shooting stars. There were wetlands in the distance, and they started rippling, like throwing a giant rock into a calm lake. But the mountains, they started looking like they were being draped in a highly reflective foil, and the reflection would be shining back at me wherever I looked. This reflective foil started to consume all the natural material around me; Everything but the runways, airport, and the people around began to shimmer. Aphrodite's Child's 'All The Seats Were Occupied' was playing on repeat in my headphones several times, I couldn't change it because it was near impossible to read my iPod with any accuracy. We continued walking, and looking up at the wind and clouds, I saw a hurricane begin to form right above my head. Clouds were swirling violently, and I pulled my hood off and outstretched my arms. I felt alive.
We left the trail, and all six of us piled into a friend's small car, and went to McDonald's. They all got their food, disbanded, and me and my two friends walked three miles back to their cars. They dropped me back off at home, we watched some parts of the 1942 version of The Jungle Book, I have no idea why, and they left about a half hour afterward.
It was around 1am now, almost seven hours after taking the 2C-E, and I really started to feel the psychological effects, being completely alone and still tripping balls. My vision was still warping, and the echoes were still in my ears. I went into my bathroom and started the shower. I got in the shower, in complete darkness, and just started thinking. I started realizing things that were really stressing me out, that I hadn't been acknowledging. Once I noticed them, I started working out ways in my mind that I could make them better. Then I started thinking of myself, and noticed all sorts of bad habits I've picked up on without even realizing it. I was just in there thinking for at least 45 minutes, when I started washing myself. And I began to think of it as symbolism for cleansing, as well as cleansing in my own mind, or some crazy shit.
I felt happy for the first time in a long while. I made myself tea and tried to go to sleep, but wound up listening to Solar Fields 'Movements,' and Chinmaya Dunster's 'Buddha Moon' albums on repeat until about 4:30am. The psychedelic effects were starting to wear off, but I felt nowhere near back to normal. I didn't fall asleep until around 9am, and slept for most of the next day.
2C-E is an amazing substance. I liked this as my first psychedelic because it wasn't overwhelming, and it's a very mellow high. 20mg is all I really needed for a great trip, and I plan to get some more to try in a month or two, with some friends, so I can really explore this realm of my mind and get the most out of it, since I now know what to expect upon taking it.
