I had just binged on lortab and dilaudid for just over two weeks, which is my threshold for opiates as I do not like being messed up for that long and the withdrawals are infinitely more bearable for that time frame.
As I am a relatively smallish person, I was taking about three 10mg tabs a day, and when I didn’t have tabs I took 8 mg of dilaudid a day. This is sufficient to cause me withdrawals symptoms such as uncomfortable aches, depression, irritability; the usual suspects.
As an avid amateur herbologist, I dabble in many forms of dried powders for health and well being. I purchased 8oz of wild-harvested frankincense [Boswellia carterii] from a reputable dealer as a pure novelty. As the day of reckoning came, I had completely ignored/forgot that my freezer had broken and rotted all my food so that I threw it out with my barley grass, passionflower and astragalus that I would typically imbibe.
I had only a few things left from my earlier order, Frankincense being among them. Some skimming had me lighting up a bowl with approximately 0.2 grams, inhaling about 3 mid sized puffs. At first I noticed nothing, so I began to study more. I smoked at 3:00 pm, by 3:08 I noticed what I perceived to be placebo joy bubbling out of my heart. Laughing at some of the comments, poking fun at stupid ads, things I would never do normally with such withdrawals.
I then took note of the ancient method of chewing the resin for better activation, as I had the powder, I stuck it in my lip as if it were tobacco dip and would chew and swallow for about 20 minutes. About 3:30 I then had finished my frankincense chew and took about 5 more mid sized puffs from my pipe. Suddenly I had to take a dump, opiates stop me up something awful. When I got back 10 minutes later I was buzzing off the dump pretty good but the feeling wasn’t going away. I was totally high off taking a crap lol. I noticed that I had zero aches, a head full of wonderful and something to experiment with.
I continued to chew a few bits and smoke a bit before sleep that night, and the dream I had was so vivid and crazy I knew that dreaming wasn’t some form of brain exercise but the spirit world and I was indeed there. (whether or not that’s true is irrelevant to how I felt)
I went through my morning routine, went to work for a bit. At 2pm the withdrawal symptoms were back like a bitter bitch. I rushed home chewed on about 1-2 grams and puffed greedily at my pipe full of frankincense. After ten minutes I felt pretty damn good. I could still feel the aches but they were like dull memories. I then wanked to some porn (don’t judge me people!!) which sent me into a pseudo-bliss state like taking one Tylenol 3 might do.
My tentative conclusion thus far is that this may well be a potentiator, but more importantly it did magical things to my withdrawal symptoms that I had previously thought was impossible w/o some other form of opiate or pseudo opiate. This could all be in my head though, as I am a bit of a nutter. So take with a major handful of salt. One other note is that just chewing and swallowing by itself, as well as smoking by itself, was hardly noticeable but when combined was far, far more effective.
