10 joints/cigs smoked Tobacco - Cigarettes (daily)
BODY WEIGHT: 195 lb
I turned Forty in 2011 and was smoking a half a pack of cigarettes a day. By this age, I couldn't believe I was still doing this to myself. I had quit before many, many times. Once I spent 8 years free, and once about 2 years.

Well, shortly after turning the big 4-0 I quit cold turkey, which I believe is the best way to quit. It also helped that I do not know many people who smoke, and I kept the ones who do away from me for a good long time. I stayed away from alcohol. I did smoke quite a bit of marijuana at first, but there is no comparison between the difficulty of quitting tobacco vs. marijuana.

Tobacco is a very, very difficult substance to quit, but if I put my mind to it, I can do it. I know I can never ever take a puff again, unless I want to go right back to my habit, and after a year of being smoke free - it stinks, and I'm just too damn old and wise to do this again. It's just not worth it and life without it may be difficult at first, but it is so much better eventually. I have made the one year mark and am not going back.
