For Chronic Pain
Kratom

DOSE:
1/4 cup oral Kratom (ground / crushed)
BODY WEIGHT: 145 lb
I became interested in Kratom while looking for new ways to help manage my chronic low back pain. I purchased crushed leaf and spent a few days allergy testing before I took a large quantity for the drug effect. I made a paste and rubbed some on the skin on my inner forearm near my elbow. after 24 hours with no reaction I made a weak tea with the leaves, about 1 tsp in a cup of boiling water, I drank the liquid only, it was very bitter. I felt no effect. After 48 hours I had no digestive issues or allergic symptoms. I decided to take a dose for drug effects the following day.

I soaked 1/4 cup of leaf in boiling water and left it overnight in the refrigerator. The next afternoon I was home alone and I mixed the leaf and the tea with frozen blueberries and vanilla yogurt in a smoothy blender. I ended up adding extra honey to cover the bitter taste. After drinking the whole smoothy I started organizing my schoolwork and checking my email. Normally I can only sit for about 30 minutes before my pain is distracting and about 45 minutes before the pain is so bad I have to stand up and move around. That day I sat at the computer, focused and productive for over an hour before looking at the clock again. This was shocking to me. I was feeling very good, in very little pain, able to focus, productive and feeling just a little bit fearless. I hadn't felt this free of the chronic pain in many years.

I couldn't believe how easy my day was on Kratom. I felt the peak effects around 1 or 2 hours and was still feeling some pain relief about 6 hours later. After a couple of days with no noticeable side effects I took a second dose, similar to the first, and had a very similar experience. I was productive and clear headed, with minimal discomfort from my chronic pain. I went for a walk with a close friend. I hadn't told him I was on anything different and after we had been out and talking for a while I asked If I seemed normal. He said I seemed in good spirits and he noticed that I was thinking more clearly and could easily keep up with conversation. This was just how I was feeling, that and that the sunny day seemed just a little bit sunnier. After I told him about my experiment, he said my eyes were fine and that he would never have guessed that I was on something. this was good news and I have since used Kratom in social and work situations without paranoia or repercussions.

Until Kratom my strongest solution for pain relief was from prescription opiates, mainly Endocet 5/500. The prescription opiates distract me from the pain, but, by the time I'm dosed enough to feel any real pain relief, my head is so soupy and my body so groggy that being productive or highly social isn't quite possible. I very much prefer the effects of the Kratom for managing my chronic pain, it's unbelievable really. I have continued to use Kratom for 6 months now, never at the same time as the Endocet (but frequently in conjunction with large doses of ibuprofen). I understand Kratom can be addictive so I limit my usage, like I do with the prescription opiates. One thing that makes it easy to limit is the unpleasant taste and textures one has to endure while taking a dose. I have had very good, consistent dosing results with teas loaded with honey or mixed into smoothies. But when trying to ingest larger doses (a tablespoon or more) using edible powders I have had trouble with crippling nausea. The positive effects on larger doses were similar but I did notice some visual dreamy sparkly edges on my environment during the peak, my body felt more relaxed and my creativity and clarity were also enhanced. That is until the nausea took hold around the 2 to 3 hour point and left me decommissioned for the rest of the day hugging the toilet. But this is ok for me, and easy to avoid as I am not as much interested in a dramatic singular experience as I am with the more subtle functionality that Kratom can add to my daily life.
