Erowid.org About
Erowid Monthly
Sometimes it's surprising to learn how visitors perceive Erowid Center, and how they may misunderstand the organization's size: the Erowid staff consists of only five paid crew members, two full-time and three part-time. See office photos:
Erowid.org/about/about_crew1.shtml

These five people research, edit and update content; conduct system administration for more than twelve million site visitors per year; direct and implement physical archiving projects; manage membership issues and volunteers; publish Erowid Extracts twice a year; run the EcstasyData project; and generally work hard to keep a finger on the pulse of many types of psychoactive information in a dizzying landscape of data sources.

We struggle to support this small crew; please help out by making a contribution:

Drug Geek Factlet
Seventy-five years ago (Feb 1935), French existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre experimented with mescaline, which influenced the writing of one of his best-known novels, La Nausée (Nausea). And one hundred years ago, 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA) was first synthesized.

Crew Notes
In the middle of January, taz3, the Hyperreal machine that served Erowid.org and more than 40 other domains for six years and acted as our mail (spam filtering) server for the last three years finally gave up the ghost. For the near future, Erowid.org will be a little slow (sometimes very slow) until another system is online. Thanks for your patience in the interim.

In 10 weeks, MAPS is hosting its Psychedelic Science in the 21st Century conference. Erowid Center will have a booth at this event, and we look forward to meeting members who attend! Erowid, MAPS, NORML, and IONS members pay a lower ticket price. See http://maps.org.
From the Vaults
A snapshot of Brian C Bennett's "Truth: The Anti-drugwar" collection. Bennett gleaned article titles from the Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature "to show how the drug war is just the exact same nonsense being repeated over and over again (literally) for the past century".
