October 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of our public launch on the
web. A generation has now grown up with Erowid and related resources!
In 1995, the World Wide Web was fresh in popular awareness, no one
had the web in their pocket, and prohibitionist data sources
dominated public drug information.
For two decades, Erowid has provided reliable resources with
consistent URLs and 99.9% uptime, forming a stable cornerstone that
the world can rely on. Join us in upcoming months as we trace
Erowid's roots and celebrate the evolution of public information
about psychoactive plants, chemicals, and technologies.
A huge thanks to everyone who contributed during our support drive
in September, helping us meet both of the drive's goals. We hope
you'll enjoy Erowid's continued growth as we build on our successes.
In October 1995, the Erowid website got one or two visitors a day,
mostly savvy young drug geeks from various online communities. We
don't have perfect records of how many pages the site had at the
time, but our guess is maybe 25-50.

reported in mid-2013 and it became commercially available late that
year. Several deaths have been associated with its use.

short update on the Shulgin Archiving Project features a scan of
Sasha's 1943 letter to his parents telling them he was changing his

The tipping point for legal recreational cannabis in the United
States has come and gone, with Colorado pioneering the way. The
first fully legal open-use U.S. Cannabis Cup took place there in
2014. An Erowid crew member visited the event and reported back.

Sylvia is back with the Erowid crew! Ok, she never quite went away.
But we've missed her daily input and assistance steering the Erowid
ship (with her deep understanding of the oh-so-many complexities
involved) while she's been off gaining skills in a more conventional
job for the past few years. We expect you'll notice the difference
in what we can get done with her on board again.
People sometimes lose track of the fact that cannabis edibles are
drug delivery devices. This article from Erowid Extracts #21
explores the risks and benefits and describes the L.E.S.S. method:
Start Low. Establish Potency. Go Slow. Supplement as Needed.

Short and sweet reminiscing on a friend, mentor, and inspiration,
Dr. Alexander (Sasha) Shulgin.

Today some headshops sell "potpourri"; in the 1970s there was
"incense". RevMeO experiments with a historical curiosity and
comes up with more questions than answers.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to Erowid during our annual public
support drive in September. We met both our goals, reaching a
new high for the number of supporters in a single month, as well as
receiving enough qualifying donations to benefit from the full amount
in matching funds that had been offered.
EcstasyData is a project of Erowid Center that conducts laboratory
testing of street ecstasy tablets, research chemicals, and other
drugs, and publishes the results online.
