Erowid Extracts #28 commemorates the work of Alexander Shulgin, a
pharmacologist and chemist known for his creation of new psychoactive
chemicals. Sasha and his wife Ann's influence on Erowid is known to
many but not all visitors to the site.

Friends and family, a Giants game, the beach, playing the viola, the
lab... photos spanning lifetimes are being catalogued for posterity.
A member of Team Shulgin shares observations and selections in a
review of images from the Shulgin Archives.

Covering 1986-1994, this lab book almost exclusively comprises
Shulgin work-ups and observations. Numerous trials with 2C-B and LSD
as well as other 2Cs, dronabinol, methcathinone, several lysergamides
and other chemicals included. Appears to be the last book with lab
notes; subsequent ones focus on the experience reports of others.

In honor of Erowid's 20th year, we're rolling out translations of
guidelines that apply not only to people who consider themselves
"drug users", but also to anyone who at one time or another has
used any "substāncia psicoativa".

Journal of Analytical Toxicology (Jul 2016)
"The clearest picture of the effects of 4-MEC comes from user
experiences that are commonly published by the so-called

pain showed up on sites like Erowid and Bluelight..."

"CEV's are starting to blossom and boundaries are becoming fluid. It's not uncommon for me to feel some anxiety when coming up on
psychedelics. I try to focus on my breath and help guide the energy
in a positive direction."
-
"I was aware of a disconnect between my 'psychedelic' self - liberated from inner narration, sexy, absorbed into the energy of the
music - and the awkward realities of my actual body, with its muscle
tension and flu-like weakness..."

"+2:30 - Legs extremely restless, very very uncomfortable. Euphoria is no longer euphoric- more of just a 'sick' feeling. +3:00 - I want
this to end. Nausea occasionally occurs, legs extremely restless.
Still no visual hallucinations, auditory hallucinations gone."
Addresses questions and criticisms about the Experience Vaults. Why
do we consider them to be so important to our ongoing work? Describes
design goals for the collection, the report review process, and
properties of good experience reports.
