It's feeling like drug policy is regressing in the US, with the
Attorney General reinstituting enforcement of federal mandatory
minimum sentences for nonviolent drug offenses.
In weirder news, San Francisco Giants baseball players have thrown
themselves into being lab rats for unapproved commercial mind-tech,
by using transcranial electrical stimulation in an effort to improve
their athletic performance (no "drugs" required)!
A shining star of the 1960s psychedelic chemistry scene left this
life last month. Nick Sand, one of the makers of the infamous
"Orange Sunshine" LSD tablets and a subject of the recently released
documentary The Sunshine Makers, passed away on Apr 24. We first met Nick
in 2001 and he was both a friend and part of Erowid's community of
experts. Gate gate, para gate, parasam gate, bodhi svaha.

The final Microgram of 1968 describes both capsules and tablets
being sold on the street as THC, but which instead contained PCP.
At the time, PCP had not yet been controlled. Also includes a
humorous note describing a teachable moment in which a chemist
hallucinated after working with LSD powder in the lab.

Written by his former lab partner and co-creator of Orange Sunshine
LSD, this detail-rich look at Sand's storied life covers his early
passion for psychedelic chemistry, his time in the lab and on the
lam, and his return to the United States.

We'd like to welcome Emily, who has recently joined the Erowid team.
She dazzled us with the torn-corner-of-a-piece-of-paper calling card
she handed Fire at an event in January, proclaiming her skills at
"Neuropharm, accounting, & herding cats". We'll put all of those to
good use!
Erowid is often mentioned in articles and books. Mentions may include

The eighth in the series of translations of Erowid's guide to
relating responsibly to psychoactive plants and drugs. #8: "Zastanów
się, jakie przewidywalne zagrożenia mogą pojawić się dla Ciebie i dla
innych, i postaraj się je zminimalizować."
An early article in the Erowid 'Meme Cultivation' series. "Everyone
makes choices about how to regulate their moods and feelings; some
choices lead to happier people and healthier humans and others lead
to more depressed people and more disease, but there are no firm
lines around what works and what doesn't."

to the couch. Typical nitrous epiphanies, the limited memories I was
